Kindly introduced to us by the friendly crew at @12th-isle, who released their amazing debut album 'Periphera' a year ago, these masters of modern ambience gift us with another selection of sonic mind travellers.

"These are tracks we developed between 2013-2021 and have featured heavily in our live performances, evolving over the years. The live show is the core of our project, creating specific listening environments for the experience of imaginary solutions and possible worlds. We've taken this to marshes, forests, woods, quarries and churches, sometimes with big audiences, sometimes just with a handful of close friends. Recent events forced us to take a pause from live performance and gave us time to compile this record, which reflects the range of moods and tones that feature in the shows. Hopefully we'll be able to return to performing soon. In the meantime we hope you enjoy the sounds. "This world is the closed door. It is a barrier. Enter the ultraverse. The ultraverse is the dimension that you can access when you really want to. A shared universe that provides a cornucopia of delights. Shaytoon is proud to present a collection of music gathered from Iranian artists from all corners of the ultraverse. 

Aria Rostami kicks off the compilation with "Birth in the Garden Triptych", meshing cinematic undertones with a sense of urgency with beautiful and mysterious pads drenching the listener in allure. Unique and enigmatic duo Saint Abdullah provide a earth-shattering track with "Lustre Ware",  a freaky number falling somewhere between 90s east coast hip-hop and muslimgauze (except actually produced by middle easterns). Voiski takes us on a futurist technoid journey, drexciyan-esque elements and ethereal pads make you forget all your problems and then ricochet back into pure hypnosis. 

Label boss Sepehr takes the torch with "Diaspora Simulacra", a hyperreal image of his sonic mind ebbing and flowing between psychedelic drum shuffles and primal chants, perfect for a romantic evening with the void. Pupils may dilate after listening. London-via-Iran artist Kasra V takes a 90's styled approach reminscent of Prodigy with "Thousand Year Dream", expertly placing samples that play with each other in a harmonius yet jacking fashion. 

Next up, goddess Paramida serves up a dreamy and timeless slice of champagne house music with "Konbanwa (Ibiza Mix). A tune that you could equally hear as an uplifting soul churner in Panorama bar or taking a stroll through candy cotton fields right at dawn. LA based artist Maral supplies us with "Lorestan Reggae", deftly utilizing Farsi vocals and grungy drum and guitar textures to create an epic punk rock soundscape that sounds like it was recorded right before an apocalypse! 

Iran based artists Milad Ahmadi delivers an enchanting, low slung roller with a high octane edge. Temp Illusion 

Shaytoon is allied with our Afghan family who is currently violently being starved to death due to US imperialism. A portion of proceeds will go to Wellness Worldwide, a volunteer-based NGO providing healthcare & social support to vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.

Today, I'm a bit disillusioned. I just gave up. Gave up my alarm-free awakenings and countryside roamings. Instead, I'm back at it. The dull job-routine, logged again on social networks, struggling with words to put together into posts. Scheduling releases which are already 6-months delayed yet not even announced. Paying thousands to the press company with my own savings cuz the latest record is not selling. 
The to-do list draws out and I now wonder why I even put myself into this in the first place.

Okay, breathe. Let's focus and start with the next premiere. Wow cool, a song from pals Angel Hunt & Lou Venturini. Damn, another cool issue of smoked-out rock, freak folk and bedroom experimentations. Taking from their first LP: the same batch of dreamy guitar riffs, along with morning-numb voices and noice beats. To be accompanied by a huge mug of scalding coffee. Well, this day ain't so bad after all, and everything might even be alright. Thanks guys for smoothing it up!

Smoke hung thick in the air as he glanced around the room. He occasionally caught the eyes of one or two who nodded their heads and began to move in time with the slow moving pace of the drums.

This was the part in which he'd slip in, insert into dub and forget the outside. It had been a long week after all, what with all the stress and grey clouds which lingered overhead.

It was hard to find peace in this life but for the occasional rumble of the bass and the drums. 

Pawel's Bar is a mysterious alias, a moniker for a producer some will know well. This new EP is forthcoming on OK Spirit, an eclectic mixture of spacious dubbed out electronics with a moody undertone. Highly recommended.

Originally written for the ‘Horizons Sauvages’ exhibition by painter Marie-Laurence de Chauvingy de Blot, @deejaydugong accompanying composition is the reification of a shared love of nature - setting out to capture the essence of her painting in musical form. Using natural sound pallets and layered loops, the complex bio-poetics of the ecosystem are explored in the fragility of their restless liminality. Environments in motion. Above all, the compositions are meditations on the importance of preservation.

There we have it then: after-the-fall organic ambience across two full sides. Essentially essential - a blueprint for the next generation of New Age music. The resynchronization of what was, what is and what is yet to be.
