I am really happy & honoured to announce the officially licensed release of this rare disco / modern soul gem from 1980. Here is my small story about this : I have been introduced to this record a few years back by DJ Klas. On the very first listen, it made me crazy & I went on an intensive & long quest to get myself a copy of the 45. It then became a kind of classics of my DJ sets, the record always being in my bag. It is definitely a sure shot for the dancefloor ! 

I then got in touch with the artist Lamar Thomas, first to try to get a spare copy, but after a few conversations on the web, I told myself it would be nice to give this rare & excellent record a new release. Pascal Rioux & Favorite Recordings finally agreed on the idea, and here it is.

Known recently for his work on Soul Clap records, Michael flexes his edit skills on this one, flipping some funk on the A-side with “Any Time,” and serving up classic italo cheek with “The Don.” The B-side erupts with the disco-house-bringer-downer “Get More” and finishes smooth with a fresh take on a well-worn sample with “909s and Herb,” a co-production with Sammy Bananas, of Fool’s Gold Record fame. This milestone record is a choice celebration of the quality that the RNT label has come to personify.

New York based D.C. LaRue has been recording and performing since 1974 but it was his track “Cathedrals” in ’76 that really got him noticed amongst the heavy weight disco releases of the time.  The double A-side 12" single of "Cathedrals" was one of the earliest commercially available 12" singles and went on to hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Music Club and Disco Single charts.

Subsequent singles “Overture” and “Indiscreet” both topped out at number 2 on the Billboard Dance Music Club charts and “Indiscreet” became an influential track in the hip hop sampling world.

Fast forward to the present day and armed with digital transfers of the original master tapes, Z Records has commissioned remixes of these classic tracks plus “Let Them Dance” and “Do You Want The Real Thing”.

Released over two limited edition picture sleeve 12’s pressed exclusively for Record Store Day 2018, the remixes come from Idjut Boys, Ron Basejam, Dr Packer, Folamour, JKriv and Joey Negro.
