My setting of the Lux Aeterna, in which colour frequencies are mapped to sets of pitches. Auroral properties govern phrase-shape, dynamic trajectory, and a Fibonacci 'spiral-matrix' of pitches in the latter half of the piece. Sung by members of The Choir of Merton College, Oxford.

Six piano minitaures. Built using magic square permutation and my colour-sound approximation system. To give melodic/rhythmic direction, I signed the mapped magic squares and followed the indentation of my pen to transcribe the content for one of the piano hands in each miniature.

Variegated Initials

For String Quartet and Trombone Choir. Built on an iterated chessgame combined with Boethian structural ratios and canons in the manner of pre-Reformation English polyphonists. Written for the MSt in Composition degree at The University of Oxford.

Brass ensemble work written for Whitgift School, with the title taken from their motto.

Vincit qui patitur

64-part motet dedicated to my mother for her 64th birthday. Builds on the Renaissance concept of the stacked canon, with each part entering a 4th higher than that below it. 4 stacked voices create the micro-canon. 4 choirs of this are stacked in 4ths to create the meso-canon, and these groups of choirs are stacked in 4ths to create the macro-canon. There is also a secondary canon in double augmentation stacking under these canonic sequences. Written for the MSt in Composition degree at The University of Oxford.
