Once upon a time
There was a beautiful garden
In the garden lived a moss piglet
The moss piglet liked living in the garden
The moss piglet lived a simple life
Eating green soup in the moist niches

One day strange creatures infested the garden
The creatures were short-sighted, large and fierce-looking
The short-sighted creatures were clumsy
They blundered into plants and other creatures in the garden occasionally
And some things got bruised 

But life in the garden went on
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches

Despite being unable to see past the end of their noses
The infestation of short-sighted creatures spread across the whole garden
As their numbers increased, so more of the plants were damaged 
And there were fewer green places for the other creatures of the garden to inhabit
For, while the short-sighted creatures kept themselves clean
Filth came with them which few other creatures could abide

But life in the garden struggled on
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches

Some of the short-sighted creatures were possessed of remarkable sight
Being less gormless than the others they saw the garden changing 
And spoke of the plight of their fellow creatures and of their own doom
But the short sighted creatures prized strength in their leaders above wit and wisdom
So the damage continued and the filth spread

But life in the garden went on
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches

The garden became sick as more plants were destroyed
Once cool green shady places became arid and scratchy 
The short-sighted creatures did not like the heat
It made them irritable and they started to fight
The other creatures of the garden stayed well away in the shady corners 

But life in the garden carried on
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches

The filth and the fighting continued to spread
The short-sighted creatures used all their arts and crafts of death in the conflict
A new plague appeared and the short-sighted creatures all became sick and died
Not a single short-sighted creature survived
The moss piglet felt sorry for some of the short sighted creatures, the less gormless ones
Invidually, they had some remarkable achievements
But as a species, they were too stupid to survive

And life returned to the garden
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches

The creatures of the garden tidied away the dried up remains of the short-sighted creatures
And buried the filth they had spread under a green carpet
And the plants started to grow again
And cool green shady places returned
The moss piglet liked cool green shady places
The moss piglet was happy

Life then flourished in the garden
And the moss piglet ate green soup in the moist niches
