This track I put together is a live MIDI recording where I arranged all of the sections of 'Inspector Norse,' a house track produced by Norwegian music producer Terje Olsen (better known by his stage name Todd Terje).    

I first heard this track back in 2013 after stumbling across it on BBC Radio 1 and despite not being a huge EDM fan, fell in love with the funkiness, rhythm and interesting textures and sound of the track and ever since I've become a big fan of Todd's synth work. Tood Terje - Inspector Norse - MIDI Cover/ Arrangement

Have been working on this arrangement of a very retro video game, "Yoshi's Island" part of the Super Mario Bros series, which was released on the SNES in 1995.  The tune plays during one of the later levels in the game and has garnered popularity over the years for its jolly, carefree and catchy tune.   I decided to arrange this with some of my musician friends for a Sax, Flute, Accordion and Electric Guitar combo.

Experimental synthy track I put together while trying out some synth patches in my DAW, and experimenting around 6/4 time signature.  Hope you enjoy listening.

Moongaze

This is my piano arrangement of the Traditional song "Wild Mountain Thyme" or "Go Lasssie Go" as it's also called.  There are debates over the origin of this song, some say it's Scottish, others say it's Irish, but either way it's a lovely tune, and the melody is beautifully reminiscent, to me at least, of the Scottish countryside.  

The recording was source made using a plugin called Pianissimo, and the MIDI strings were part of the Virtual Instrument Plugins available on Mixcraft Pro 6.

Music for Media - Retro Soundscapes; "The Perfect Heist" Variations and "Face Off"

This is a short Oriental / Ambient style track I wrote, centered around the D Dorian scale.     The melody is mostly improvised, but a rhythm becomes more prominent in the second (now natural minor) section, where the woodwind section is accompanied by the harp and strings.

Under a Blissful Sky

A track called "Their Spirit" which I composed for a student film - "Kin."     It is meant to depict bittersweet and sombre feelings in the beginning, but as the piece develops there are moments of solace and comfort as reflected in the higher register of the strings.    I was rather inspired by the work of Ludovico Einaudi while approaching this piece.

The oboe lines are supposed to relate to the human voice expressing feelings of frustration, guilt and overwhelming emotion - as is shown in the film.

Their Spirit

This is a Late Romantic-inspired piece I recently put together.    Having listened to a lot of Chopin, one of my favourite composers, and the more complex harmonies and runs he utilises in his pieces, I felt compelled to write a short piece, with lots of thick textural chords integrating the melody in the right hand, and fast-flowing arpeggios in the left.

Romance In G

This is my performance of Russian composer Vladimir Rebikov's 'Valse Melancolique', which, as the name suggests, translates as a 'melancholy waltz.'   In B minor, it has a very haunting, beautiful melody based around the harmonic minor scale, intertwined with many tense, rich and resolving harmonies and a piece which I find evokes a very bittersweet, reflective feel.   Rebikov, wrote many piano miniatures and works in musical theatre and was heavily inspired by the works of Tchaikovsky and Grieg.

Hey there.  I am a music college student from Aberdeen.  I am mainly using this site to post ideas and some finalized compositions.  My work mainly consists of instrumental compositions, usually orchestral, but I am working to experiment with some dance, electronic and some rock / pop songs with vocals, as well as some other genres.   I hope that some of you like what I am doing and enjoy listening! :) I think this is a great site to have a look at what some other composers are doing!
