Le groupe Blurt est intimement lié à la personnalité charismatique de son fondateur, l’artiste Ted Milton, saxophoniste, poète, originalement marionnettiste. Créé en 1979 sous la forme d’un trio, Blurt s’est très vite taillé une place à part dans le bouillonnement britannique des années punk, un espace plus « arty », moins brutal (bien que furieusement électrique et minimaliste), plus poétique, flirtant avec le dadaïsme. De même que quelques autres groupes de cette époque, après la décantation des modes successives, Blurt a connu un regain d’intérêt ces dernières années, redécouvert par une nouvelle génération, affirmant ainsi la rémanence de sa haute valeur artistique.

Touring with the Young Gods, and Dominique A, and shared the stage with many other musicians. Such as John Zorn Masada, Napalm Death, Legendary Pink Dots, Ornette Coleman, joe baron, The Ex, New model Army... Last tour in 2000. Yves Charmillot dies of cancer in september 2001. A l’occasion de la réception du boss du label @mannequin-label au Iboat le 29 avril, ce dernier, Alessandro Adriani, nous a enregistré une sélection de morceaux obscures retraçant plusieurs décennies de musiques froides et synthétiques. Son label, réputé pour ses rééditions de trésors industriels/cold/synth/minimal wave (Martial Canterel, The Actor, Bourbonese Qualk, The Neon Judgement …), fait également office de défricheurs de talents; Fallbeill, Maoupa Mazzocchetti, JASSS, An-I, Musumeci ou encore notre deuxième invité, December, ont eu l’occasion de voir leur musique sortie sur le label italien. On est donc très heureux de recevoir un des principaux activiste de cette nouvelle vague métallique pour la première fois à l’iboat.

Mannequin is really proud to  announce the forthcoming brand new 12'' from Tropic of Cancer, one the most important realities in the modern post-punk and darkwave scene.
 
Essentially the solo project of LA-based Camella Lobo, with contributions from John Mendez (aka Sandwell District’s Silent Servant) and Taylor Burch (DVA Damas) and after two sold-out releases on labels Blackest Ever Black and Downwards, Tropic Of Cancer have stoked their slow burning reputation into the makings of what isbeing referred to as a 'modern classic.' 

Though Tropic Of Cancer's sound has been called gothic, cold wave and drone pop, the band's take on their influences isanything but nostalgic. Lobo and Mendez have managed to imbue their own elusive gaze and craft a strangely beautiful and intoxicating sound in the wake of theirpredecessors.
 
The three tracks on this new 12'' take us gently by the hand into a slowed-down opium dream - it's like watching the desert from the same stark corners where Lyciastood many years ago.
 
This EP gathers the primal thrust of their bleak Post-Punk (think about Cultural Decay shaking hands with Section 25 in their psychedelic/buddhist years) and Minimal Wave aesthetics with this entirely new dimension in the music of TOC – heartfelt and deep. 

Cold waves have never been so warm.
