OCLK-Kast 006 : : RUUAR @ruuar-official

When we talk about expertise and an honest devotion for finest selections of electronic music we need to talk about what Ruuar has been as a representative mark from the underground Portuguese movement in the past years. 

Pedro Rebelo and Hugo Bastos have been shaping RUUAR with unique and differentiated conceptions of music where they distinguish themselves fusing different influences as we can witness in this outstanding 2 hours podcast that we assume is quite out of the box. 

With fine touches of constructing narratives and deconstructing rhythms its in the deep core that RUUAR find their message to the inner vortex. Being the streets in general to the most expressive metaphor for the ability to shape their path they present in their sets assuming the uncertain, the maze and the thrill of the journey as a background. This will continue to be RUUAR 's legacy.

The potato-sounding recording adds an extra raw, disted touch.

All tracks are from 1991 - 2000 by producers and labels such as Luke Slater, Synewave, Damon Wild, Tresor, Underground Resistance, Aux 88, James Ruskin, Drexciya, Basic Channel, Robert Hood, Claude Young and Chris McCormack to name a few.

Set realizado para el festival Geopark Lights 2023, en el Geoparque de Granada, el 13-10-2023. Un set de ambient que recorre varios estilos para una transición entre los directos de las italianas Ilaria Degradi y Ginevra Nervi,  inaugurando el festival, viernes al anochecer, en una sección dedicada a los "Sonidos para la Acequia del Toril".

Pærer, independant label, based in Lille, France.
That's the fruit of four guys' collaboration : Jiman, Voice of Sylenth and Untitled Signal, who have the same state of mind, each have their own vision of music.
Influenced by the pioneers of Detroit, Berlin vibes and UK experiment, they aim to promote the experimental and powerful sides of techno music.

Sur les trente rêves qu’a du faire le jeune producteur techno lillois Jiman à l’orée de sa discographie, l’un sans doute était de monter un label de l’ambition et de l’envergure de Paerer. Une ambition qui, sur le papier, n’avait pourtant rien d’insurmontable : faire se joindre sous une même bannière les fractions d’une techno désormais affranchie de ses carcans passés, qu’ils soient dub, indus ou électronica. Autrement dit l’alchimie recherchée par tout label électronique, et à fortiori techno, qui se respecte peu avant les années 2020. Lancé en 2018, grâce à la passion partagée pour la production de Jiman et quelques un de ses amis, le jeune Paerer est l’enfant terrible de la scène techno française qui explosa au début de la dernière décennie. Un pied du coté de l’école de Birmingham (Regis, Surgeon) ou de l’EBM de Meat Beat Manifesto, l’autre dans les profondeurs dub de Basic Channel ou d’Echospace, le tout avec la folle envie d’expérimenter, le label présente un profil aux antipodes de ses contemporains et un esprit revêche qui le rend particulièrement sympathique. Sur la foie de quelques various bien sentis, aidés par des mentors et frères de sons comme Birth Of Frequency ou Pulse Code Modulation, la toute jeune structure, dont le logo rappelle méchamment celui d’une autre figure tutélaire de la scène électronique, commence à faire sérieusement parler d’elle. Mais cela était sans compter sur un contexte et une pandémie qui allaient rebattre radicalement les cartes, notamment pour les indépendants, balayer des labels aussi importants que le Stroboscopic Artefacts de Lucy et faire vriller toute la scène vers les sonorités pourtant décriées par le passé de la trance et du breakbeat 90’s. Aspiré malgré lui dans ce vortex dystopique, Paerer passe en peu de temps de rejeton prometteur à bastion des valeurs cardinales technoïdes.
