One of Australia’s most mysterious jazz long players. The eponymous creation of Queensland pianist Robert Welsh. Originally released in 1986, Singing Dust offers a dynamic collection of songs, rich in expressive performance and compositional sophistication. Inspired by the sounds of Indian devotional song, the jazz piano styles of Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, English folk and Debussey’s tonal impressions, this is a work of true dedication and posterity that will appeal to many serious music lovers.

The world was spinning faster than ever before, it was more chaotic and dazzling than it had been. Some were using this opportunity to make amends, building bridges faster than others might attempt to burn them.

Nobody knew when it might stop for that was an uncertainty beyond the imagination of all comprehension. Perhaps it would be today, perhaps it would be tomorrow but for now all they could do was to continue the merry dance upon which kept it all moving.

He watched it all from a cloud up above, little did they know of what time was left way down there.
 
Chambre Noire has announced the release of a new split EP which features a collection of tracks from RW, Bunzinelli and Mild Drama. This EP caught us off guard as it’s perhaps more club focussed and dancefloor ready than the previous material to emerge via the imprint. It’s a stellar EP with label boss Bunzinelli’s track playing a stand out role as far as we’re concerned.

Left Ear Records and Mixed Signals team up again to refresh Litia~Loe’s mid-90s album Life Love Dance. On this timeless release, the group channel the golden age of Nu Groove, foundational Warp releases, and the Ibiza days of New Order, all rooted in a uniquely Chicago sound.

Five years after their EBM-tinged cerebral house anthem “Each Dawn Every Dawn”, the Litia~Loe (Life In The Insane Asylum = Life On Earth) crew dropped a lush album of wider proportion — six songs that feel more mature, more confident. Yet, despite this cultivated style, they continue to maintain the distinctive jest of their first outing. Grant, Leon, and Simeon’s new approach was more exploratory, traversing adventurous channels of pop, wave, IDM, and house. Not only are the songs more varied, but the growth of the trio’s technical skills are apparent. These songs feel more considered, like they have been refined over time, given just the right amount of polish without losing the ecstatic rawness that gives them breath and bounce.

“The Rush” follows the crooked path that was featured in their first single, with a vocal performance that maintains a murky half-singing-half-spoken-word opacity; the optimistic lyrics juxtaposed with sinister synthetic strings. “Whisper To Me” demonstrates a new side to the group which shows their ability to break from an orthodox house sound and highlights their pop sensibilities with a narcotic Depeche Mode-ish bassline. “Peep Show” reveals a mellower mode, drenched in euphoric echo and sensuous synth pads. Also featured on this reissue is an unreleased CD instrumental “First World” having its first ever vinyl release.

Life Love Dance captures the sound of primetime Chicago melodic house music, but offers something more expansive. Uninhibited by the borders of genre, the trio took a more inclusive approach to their music, which catalysed in a playful and peerless production style which makes their work stand out from the droves of generic dance records from that era.

Tokyo-based Yuto Takei (@yutotakei) 's latest work is an assortment of numbers that represents fairly well his versatility as a music maker. His capability of painting afterglow soundscapes with a cinematic approach is counterpoised by an almost obsessive interest in percussive experiments. The sparse presence of subtle natural field recordings together with vast open sonic spaces is recurrently sustained by repetitive semi-artificial and cosmic repetitions. 

Comes with a riso-printed insert, handstamped inner sleeve, and a label sticker.

Inspired by warm climates, shaped in a rainy city. Native Cruise’s Desert Theory opener Late Nights is a relaxed jam filled with crispy drum-machine percussion and new age-ish pads with delicate nature sounds in the background. The energy rises towards the title track, a marching rhythm characterised by chugging wooden drums and floaty pan flutes. Bermuda Clouds brings you on a shore presenting a dreamy 4 to the floor session with an FM bass line, atmospheric pads and a wave of ocean sounds. The journey ends with Whispers which reminds of an imaginary 80s digital world vaguely influenced by the aesthetic of labels like Innovative Communication or Les Folies Art.

Mastered at Maspaventi studio in Amsterdam.
