An ode to The Natural State 

There is something special about southern air 
It's not in sight, but you feel it there
It wraps itself around all of your fingers and toes
It holds on tight and never lets go 

And I'm a lucky one 
To have it born into my lungs 
So when I leave, home doesn't seem that far 
Because every time I breathe, I always have a little piece of my sweet Arkansas

Because I'm homegrown 
Every part, right down to my bare bones
Homegrown 
And I know that I can always go 
Back to where it all began 
'Cause when I'm home
I know exactly who I am

My home is a diamond with a selfless shine
It spreads your light and reflects mine
So every thing you've ever been will carry on 
And remain bright, long after you're gone

And I'm a lucky one
Sunkissed by the southern sun
You can tell by the freckles on my face
Whatever life throws back at me
I will march on happily 'cause my roots will never change

Because I'm homegrown 
Every part right down to my bare bones 
Homegrown 
And I know that I can always go back to where it all began
'Cause when I'm home
I know exactly who I am 

And I'm a lucky one 
When my time on earth is up 
I'll be grateful under the maple leaves 
When my heart has had its fill, 
Just lay me down in Fayetteville 
So that I'll always be 
Homegrown.
