Summer breaks through. This episode of PAIJATA is for the heat of the day and the cool of the shade, for the lengthening of evenings. Skin, and touch, after so much time. 

Features moments of live performance, using the Bastl Thyme to play with sound sources from Monolake, Pablo Diserens, and Sofie Birch. These are biased to the left channel, making the mix best suited for playback on speakers, with open windows and a flowing breeze.

PAIJATA @ Netil Radio | 09/06/21

Since first hearing their music via Portland's Boomarm Nation imprint, @SaintAbdullah have forged a space in my music taste with each of their releases. Individuality — demonstrated as a concept of existence more than just musical practice — exists at the core of everything they do, and it is utterly entrenched in the pair's sound. 

This individuality is borne the most by their explorations of self: the duo have lived the most of their life in the West, in the US and Canada, yet they come from an Iranian family. They explore the sometimes troubling existence as (descendants of) migrants who left their home country to make a new home for their children in the West. Brothers Moh & Mehdi unpack this — nothing shy of their existence on Earth — in all its complexity, across albums such as 'To Live A La West' on @importantrecords, 'Where do we go, Now?' on @purpletapepedigree and 'In God's Image' on @PsychicLiberation. Consequently, their sound can be rough-edged, furious, distraught, even, and almost inherently political ("Broke my Heart in '52" / "Problem" / "Mossadegh's revenge for '52"), yet it is broad in its reach and contains a pervading and direct distillation of humanity - endurance, suffering, joy, peace, and solidarity - throughout all they have accomplished. 

I'm quite overwhelmed to be be presenting "the people who initiate a new world", a beat tape/mix created by the pair consisting of original and unheard productions, "instrumental in parts. Lots of variety. Projects with @eomac, with @jasonnazary, and stuff by ourselves". Quote from Havel and photograph from the duo.
