Having played in various indie and electronic bands over the years, old friends Jamie and Simon had often talked about starting a music project of their own. During the summer of 2018, the two multi instrumentalists and producers posted their first demo online, discovered by Estonian ambient musician and vocalist Keit.

Working as the trio Painting By Numbers, they recorded together in Jamie’s old converted church space and released their debut single ‘We Left Our Love’ in May 2019, followed by the follow up single ‘Visions’ in August 2019.

The following months were focused on Painting By Numbers first full length 3 track E.P - ‘No Promises’. This was released by AMDISCS in May 2020 (the label responsible for discovering Com Truise as well as many influential others) which embraced the nostalgic chillwave sound the band had been seeking.

In February 2021 Painting By Numbers released 'Swimming In A Sea Of Dreams' , a 6 track E.P combining 3 new tracks with the past 3 singles. Renowned net label BUSINESS CASUAL produced a limited edition cassette tape as well as hosting digital download on their website.

The band continue to write and record together, with a further E.P release planned for Summer of 2022.
