Coming from a punk and hardcore music background but fatigued by the standard band format limitations, Déandrah’s project is into presenting their perception and interpretation of club music, mixed with nostalgic wonder, influenced by early 2000s video game soundtracks. Déandrah has been making odd, out-of-step electronic music for a few years with elements of electro-esque rhythms, breakbeats and granular voices. All to create a compellingly original
hybrid form of dance music. Crushed beats from VHS tapes, mangled vocals on handmade cassette tape loops and saturation from no-input mixing are some of Déandrah's favourite creative routines. Not perfectly within the confines of a dance genre’, reconciling the somewhat clinical nature of dance music with the essentially ‘human’ aspects of experimentation such as error, disorder and spontaneity. Self-indulgent, naive and aggressive; Déandrah turns waves of
noise into amalgamated anxiety and anger driven music, presenting you with a multimedia spiritual journey of pushing perceptions of how we can move our bodies to very quaint and odd places.

The One Where I Drown

Sometimes I don’t know what to say as I can only hear. Tangled thoughts, noise, smells, taste, visual sensations. Sound creates pictures in the mind. Each sound has a life of its own, its own rules. Languages and customs. Traditions. Fears and Dreams. Expectations and disappointments. Life. Circular notion of repetition. 

As each breath brings a new life, each sound a new creation. When one stops another one emerges to take its place. The vastness of our imagination to create meaningful experience with sometimes limited, 2 dimensional tools is phenomenal.

Seeking beauty in all of it, I wish to invite you to join me in “A Retrospective”. With music, poetry, cinema and stories of those who create them.
