Today, in the world of Traxsource Live, we bear witness to an odyssey of funk, captained by none other than Germany’s Lorenz Rhode.

During his 15+ years as an artist, Lorenz has evolved his musical niche into a custom blend of his most favorable influences. His music has quickly caught the attention of the underground’s most revered imprints, with tracks now sitting comfortably on labels such as  Defected, House of Disco Records, Heist, Dirt Crew and Compost. His latest, Le Noir EP, lands on 10 Questions and explores the depths of ‘80s inspired Italo Disco (with a contemporary twist) over the course of three flawlessly cohesive tracks.

Whilst his renowned reputation was built off an undeniable enthusiasm for synths and production. Today, Lorenz puts down the keys and enters the booth for 60 minutes of seamless Nu Disco mixing. Fiercely funky and daringly deep, expect to hear tracks from the likes of Ian Pooley, Austin Ato, Purple Disco Machine, Session Victim and more.

A regular fixture in Ibiza's more reclined circles, Jim Breese used to take up residency at Cafe Mambo and curated all ten volumes of the respected Ku De Ta album series for the much-loved Bali based sunset venue. His Balearic compilations take the baton from Jose Padilla's Cafe Del Mar series and go some way to capture the contemporary spirit of laid back Ibiza. Jim is now based in Ramsgate, a small spot on the southern coast of England that is home to a surprising number of high profile DJs and producers (see below for the dizzying list). The smaller neighbour to the burgeoning Margate, Jim made the claim that his home draws comparison to the golden shores of Ibiza; a lofty claim, and one we challenged him to justify through some questions and an hour long mix.

Italian producer @Moplen is hugely revered in the scene for both the quality of his work and his exquisite taste in tracks to work with.

A self confessed vinyl junkie Moplen has released on the finest labels around including GAMM, BBE, Lumberjacks In Hell and seminal house music labels including Henry Street Music and Soulfuric. He has also released with iconic disco label Salsoul.

His remixes are very distinctive; there is most certainly an identifiable Moplen sound.

Moplen’s latest release sees him drop a superb track ‘Ain’t no dub about it’ via @samosarecords fantastic Funk Purpose EP.

As one of our long-time favourite producers we thought this was the perfect time to speak to Moplen about his impressive career.
