"Wounds Of Awakening is a deep journey through the resonating caverns of one's inmost self. Audio alchemists Utu Lautturi and Mahr draw beauty from decadence, creating a unique blend of darkness and glory. Exquisite sound design meets heavy drones, pools of melancholy flow into oceans of vibrant static. Merging traditional doom and black metal instrumentation with experimental composition, the album offers a rich palette of introspective soundscapes. There is a fear present, even horror, but it emanates an undertone of power and intent to push through - to overcome our self-imposed limitations. For no awakening comes without pain, and new life must begin from a tomb for the old."

NOTES ON THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE:

This track was the first collaboration of ours. We saw it only fitting that it would be the opening piece for our album. The track has been slightly updated, re-mixed and re-mastered for this release.

"The act of penance or selfless surrender that is imposed helps the penitent to overcome unhealthy selfishness, to desire more strongly to live an authentic and truthful life, to be closer to the penitent's most inner self, and to show others the love and compassion needed to promote these qualities in the penitent's surroundings. It is part of the healing that the sacrament brings. Dogma injures and weakens the inner self, as well as one's relations with Nature and neighbour. Absolution in accepting one's human conditioning may remove regret, but it does not remedy all the disorders societal conditioning has caused. Raised up by dogmatic conditioning through society and religion, the penitent must recover her/his full spiritual health by turning inward to seek and heal the roots of the problem threatening one's awakening and fulfilling his/her highest potential.

This is done by silence, solitude, service and study. The rite of the sacrament requires that the kind and extent of the process should be suited to the personal condition of each penitent so that each one may restore the authenticity from which s/he was disturbed and through the corresponding remedy be cured of the sickness from which s/he suffered."
