Unsere Nr. 239 kommt heute von einem DJ, welcher sich durch seinen unglaublich mannigfaltigen Soundspektrum auszeichnet. Jedes seiner Sets sind vielseitig, überraschend und einfach nur sau gut. Sein Sound hatte mich bereits beim ersten Hören absolut in den Bann gezogen, da sie sich einfach nicht in eine bestimmte Schublade packen lies. Ein Merkmal, dass mich aufs Neue immer wieder erstaunt, verwirrt, fesselt und dann schlussendlich verblüfft. Musik die wie gemacht dafür ist, den Sonnenschein nach einer durchtanzten Nacht zu begrüßen. 

Die Rede ist von dem Würzburger Lucid Lava Lamb, einem Wanderer zwischen den Soundwelten mit dem Hang zum Besonderen. Musik aus der Klischeedose gibt es bei ihm definitiv nie. Genre, ja das Wort kennt er, aber daran halten möchte und kann er sich nicht. Wie auch, schließlich beeindrucken eine Sets, egal ob in Form eines Podcasts oder auch Live, durch ein hohes Maß an Verspieltheit und glänzen mit einer deepen Atmosphäre zwischen Tanz und Hypnose. 

Das von Ihnen eingespielte Set ist definitiv eine herrlich ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der slowen, groovigen, aber auch tanzbaren Soundmaterie. In Kombination mit verspielter, elektronischer Musik und dem Springen durch verschiedene Subgenres schafft er es mit aller Leichtigkeit einen besonderen Moment nach dem Anderen zu kreieren. Ob Ketapop, Deep House, Dub Techno oder auch Drum’n Bass, alles ist hier erlaubt. Man mag es kaum beim Lesen glauben, aber das ganze passt tatsächlich zusammen und wie. Keine Ahnung wie das Felix immer wieder schafft?!? Aber ihm gelingt es. Immer und immer wieder.
Ich war beim ersten Hören des Sets tatsächlich komplett geflasht, obwohl ich seinen Sound recht gut kenne. Dennoch überraschte es mich. Das ist immer das Tolle an seiner Musik und unserer Reihe. Man hat zunächst eine Ahnung, dann gerät man ins Zweifeln ob man sich doch tatsächlich geirrt hat und am Ende sitzt man verblüfft im Sessel mit seinen Kopfhörern auch den Ohren. Immer wieder genial, wenn die Künstler mit so viel Liebe zum Detail an die Sache rangehen und etwas vollkommen Einzigartiges erschaffen. Nämlich ihrem bzw. seinem Afterhour Sound. Dass das heute leider keine Selbstverständlichkeit mehr ist, muss an dieser Stelle nicht gesagt werden.
Umso mehr freut es mich / uns, dass wir Felix mit einem Set gewinnen konnten. 

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise durch verspielte, deepe und hypnothische Felder, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour sind….seid gespannt.

It was the rainy season in Bangkok. The air was saturated with a continuus fine drizzle, and often drops of rain would dance in a brilliant ray of sunlight. Rifts of blue were always visible here and there, and even when the clouds clustered most thickly round the sun, the sky at their circumference was dazzingly blue. I always dreamed of a journey to the far east. It's been my habit since i first started recording these mixes. This third volume is different, more personal, more mature and-fingers crossed-more accessible too, a labor of love for the everlasting beauty of these dreamy places. Yesterday i dreamed that i was catching butterflies at the Temple of Dawn. This is a mix dedicated to the temple and the secrets of beauty, love and passion surrounding his amazing architecture.

Episode 3 of FFF promises to be a sonic side quest into "fuzzy frequencies" a term used by our guest for this week to describe their personal take on they're distinctive style and sound. Thus the evergreen Ram Dust is the next featured guest for this week's segment of Funky Frequency Friday.

Following the final release of his EP trilogy series ‘Order’, ‘Chaos’, and ‘Balance’, Bon-Psy has united the projects together into a forthcoming album, with a clutch of additional remixes from some cherry-picked producers at the cutting edge of their respective electronic styles. 


This first new take comes from Barcelona-based, Italian electronica duo Palladian who have successfully carved a unique space in the dance/electronic scene and are fresh off the back of releases with respected downtempo imprints Loci Records and Anjunadeep. The pair blend evocative harmonies, organic textures and dynamic grooves in a club-ready mix that sounds good regardless of season or setting. 


Presenting a sun-kissed rendition of ‘Warm Fuzzies: The Glory’, with deep low-end grooves, prismatic atmospherics, airy pads and minimal percussion, they give the track a weightless, euphoric quality. The result is less of a straightforward rework and more of a complete shift in perspective - a parallel rendition where the pair implement the same melody but tell an entirely different story, all channeled through the lens of dance-leaning electronica.


The duo boast an impressive, wide array of collaborations with heavy hitters in the scene such as  Emancipator and Tor, alongside live performances with Tycho, Parra for Cuva and Catching Flies. They have become a staple of playlists at Spotify and AppleMusic and boast radio support from the likes of SiriusXM, BBCRadio1, 6Music, and more.

Baikal Nomads presents a collaborative organic house release by Kaöb and Nofrontera. It is the first time these artists have teamed up, and it features three tracks with progressive grooves.

Kaöb is a wilderness explorer, whose music is inspired by trips to more than 50 different countries. His love of nature and organic sounds are what form the backbone of his compelling music, which combines dramatic moments with flowing rhythms.

This is the third time Kaöb has worked with Baikal Nomads, adding to a previous EP, and a contribution to one of the record label's compilations. His tracks and remixes can also be heard on other respected imprints such as Leveldva, Shango Records, MONADA, and Cosmic Awakenings.

Nofrontera is also a French artist from Paris, and he takes inspiration from cultural diversity. He is fascinated by tribal chants, and aboriginal sounds from around the world, which he fuses with contemporary electronic instruments. This is Nofrontera's first time featuring on Baikal Nomads, adding to a catalogue that also includes • kosa • and Cafe De Anatolia.

"Tangaroa" opens the release with upbeat conga rhythms and aboriginal sounds, delivering a mystical vibe with deep atmosphere. "Otro Mundo" has atmospheric synths and ceremonial sounds, creating a trippy vibe underpinned by invigorating percussion. "Native Dream" closes the release with vocal chants and liquid melodies, combining with moody pads and tribal drums.

The conflict has ceased to be about the defense of anything for months.

The parties responsible have made a mockery of decency, morals, fairness, proportion, or justice, not to mention empathy.  Of what little there was, these concepts will be a lot longer to come back than they were to be struck down.

PALE PENGUIN’s one of the key figures in Greek electronic scene. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, he’s been djing for almost 20 years being one of the best Greek Breaks/Techno/Tech-House djs. In his portfolio there are appearances in big festivals (Sola Luna, Balkan Voices, Urban Rhythm, Reworks, Butterfly, Spring Festen) alongside Slam, Felix Da Housecat, Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Dominic Eulberg, Modeselektor, Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), Coldcut, Octave One, Eddie Piller etc, and many venues throughout Greece and Europe. He has done warm-ups to artists likes Rjd2, Thievery Corporation, Richard Dorfmeister, Nightmares On Wax, Kid Loco, Mushroom (Massive Attack), Frank Popp, Bjorn Torske, Bentley’s Rhythm Ace, Snowboy, Hooverphonic etc. He was one of the first radio producers playing Breaks/Drum n’Bass and Electronica in his legendary “Tricknology”, “Brainwash” and “Cinematica Paradiso” radio shows.
