Drums in the Distance: Flying through the Arc of Time

The Angdaai Project, conceptualised by Vaishnavi Mannava, came out of the pandemic to reclaim the body’s freedom against a seemingly relentless stream of stimulus, restrictions, labels, and commands. It stems from the understanding that even a tiny physical adjustment is testimony to the body’s intelligence and inherent knowledge, making it somehow wiser than the loud and dominating mind that commands it. 

As a part of the Little Stint, hosted by Oddbird Foundation and WIP Labs, I performed sound in collaboration with movement artists Vaishnavi & Aabshaar to present the first public iteration of a work in progress that asks the audience questions of intimacy, rest and exhaustion.

This iteration was heavily inspired by the Surroundings episode of Serpentine Podcasts: Intimacies. The voiceovers by Lina Gotmeh in the soundscape are sourced from the podcast.
