Following a pair of highly sought-after white labels and the superb Navigate EP, Akkord return to Houndstooth with their self-titled debut album.  

Akkord began as a shadowy collective with an espoused passion for mathematics and sacred geometry, crafting intelligent and beautifully oppressive electronic music. Eventually revealed as a collaboration between experienced Mancunian bass producers Synkro and Indigo, 'Akkord' blurs the lines between junglist revivalism, smoky ambience, and suctioned dub, with a consistently engaging pulse linking the styles. Carefully arranged and achieving maximum impact on a proper soundsystem, Akkord have turned in an ominous and daring debut LP.

Previews of each track on the album will be revealed during the weeks leading up to the release via akkordmusik.net and other sources.  

The album is available on double LP, cut to heavyweight 180g vinyl by mastering engineer of the year, Matt Colton, CD and digital.

BUNK074 : New artist enters the Bunk Family. Welcome Sascha !!!

Sascha Bouché is from Hannover (Germany), producer and techno DJ.
He loves the synths of the 80s and the pumping techno! 
Already in 1998 he played as house DJ at 'Groove Planet', later with techno at 'H.de.M.', 'SoapClub' and then 'Liquid' and others.
His first release together with 'Andi de luxe' as 'Mezzomatic' in 2003 and some releases and remixes followed.
Sascha worked in Andi's record store and is the owner of Pong Recordings, which he brought back to life in 2020.

Sascha was not active for nine years because he was building his tattoo shop.

In 2020 Sascha's first techno releases came on Pure Dope Digital, Red Eclipse Recordings, DSR Digital and Disskghast Recordings, and in 2022, on UKR.

He's now a resident again, this time at 'KLUB PAN' in Hanover.

'House Music' : House Music is the namesake for my first E.P. on my beloved Bunkaball label. When I came up with the idea for this track, I always had to think of the classic of the same name by the great Eddie Amador. Haha. :)
For me, the Roland drums are always the center of attention.
The rest usually comes by itself. :)

'Work My Body' : Probably every Dj has a record with this title in his case. :)
You just can't go wrong with the vocals. Add a cool, driving groove, a pushing melody and stir hard, done!

'Get Up' : Pumping 909 rhythm with a very hypnotic chord line and the repeated request 'Get up!'. The melody swings back and forth and completely confuses you.
The sharp hihats push you forward and the clap hits you in the face.
So it must be on the dance floor! ;)

Steel City Dance Discs welcomes Surusinghe for an explosive debut. Five tracks built on the foundation of rhythm heavy percussion, thought provoking melodies inspired by traditional Sri Lankan instrumentation, and an underbelly of engulfing bass. 

‘GOOD GIRLS / BAD GIRLS’ is a culmination of the sounds and culture that have influenced Surusinghe throughout her life. Listening to a combination of traditional music with her Sri-Lankan born father in her youth, to the more current impact that heritage and contemporary sounds of UK rave has had on the young producer since she moved to London from Melbourne in 2019 to further pursue a career in music.

For Dyslecta's debut on vinyl, and follow up to his contribution to Out of Sorts' inaugural VA, he serves up four slabs of rugged, UK techno, with influences from the early swamp sound, 2000s hard groove and classic tech house. The influences of the early 2000's early tech house scene are clear in Left on Para, a tasteful hypnotic roller which combines dubbed out vocals with a lurching bassline. Full release is dropping on 19th August, with only 100 records available worldwide, via the Out of Sorts bandcamp.'

JUDDER launches its own label with the first release being a VA "Judder Compilation #1". Expect nine tracks, exploring bass-oriented sonics around the 130–160 bpm range, from the likes of both worldwide acknowledged and up-and-coming artists. A huge palette of sounds and different moods meticulously flows through each track from the very beginning to an end.

The duo Poima opens the release with hypnotic and viscous swampy vibes, at the same time An Avrin brings groovy dancefloor-ish breakbeat settings. JUDDER resident Oddkut comes in with a percussive-driven heavy-hitter, while Nattah showcases her skills with unpretentious yet deeply pervasive stepper "False Trail". DUBRAW's very own Skotcha delivers pure shellings with a skippy grime-influenced "Shells" and, as usual, Champion Sound are ready to bury the soundboy with nothing but a straight belter. Flint's minimalistic approach to production continues to unfold through an ever-swirling and ever-twisting "Amok" and so does Dawn Razor's with a very funky and dubby dancefloor tool. The one to complete the compilation is Kapha, sharing an enigmatic clicky juke-track "Act & Pause"

The first instalment in the series of JUDDER compilations has brought together a unique selection of talented artists and musicians in order for you to dive deeply into the bass-driven experimental sound.

Dawn Razor - Solid Block

Following 2023’s all-conquering ‘Malware Trance’ — a peak-time dose of exe.stascy played by all (all) your favourite DJs — Martyn Bootyspoon returns to Local Action with a new two-tracker of precision-tooled club heat.

One of North America’s finest and busiest DJs, we’ve made this point before but Bootyspoon is someone who just gets club music: the history, the dynamics, the key touchstones and the whole lineage. And crucially, when it comes to making it, he’s got the juice. No matter how wild or wonky, his tracks always move dancefloors, and ‘Doors at 11’ is a perfect example: hard drums and an even harder bassline that gets every bit of value out of some automated resonance and a salt shaker perc riff. Perfect heavy warm-up music, basically.

The B-side, meanwhile, feels like a sequel to ‘Malware Trance’, using a pair of interlocking synth riffs and waterdrop percussion to ride that same line between anxiety and euphoria — somewhere between a cold sweat and a hot flush.

From the start, Young Smoke (currently going by Yunng Smoke) has established himself as being part of the first wave of internationally recognized footwork producers from Chicago, through Planet Mu's renowned Bangs & Works compilation series. Followed by his debut album "Space Zone" on the same label, he carved out his sound palette blending 8-bit nostalgia, blastoff noises, launchpad countdowns, and robotic voices on top of overt lead chords. 
For the last decade he has been self-releasing numerous projects through his Bandcamp until now. The forthcoming EP: "The Portal" is a collection of throwbacks and previously unreleased tracks from his early works in 2011-2012. This EP will be released through Liquorish Records on Friday 31st May. 
Today we have your first listen of "Battle Field." Young Smoke delivers his unique take on footwork with conceptual sci-fi sounds. The track combines the dance battle energy with an arcade of airy synth melodies and menacing horns, set to heavy 160bpm rhythms.

Hello friends,

I've been working really hard on so much new music in the past year, switching software and trying all sorts of new techniques to push myself and my sound. I can't wait to show it you and release it in the coming months...

I've always been happy with this tune "Admiral" but i've not really found the best way to work it into my release schedule and people regularly ask me about it. So I thought why not just give it out for free?

I would also like to take this chance to give a massive thank you to everyone who supports my music in whatever way it is, i am honestly so grateful for all your support and patience with me and I am constantly blown away by the kindness of everyone around me.

After a solid start to 2020 with Matadors groove laden “Desire” packing out dancefloors worldwide, RUKUS welcomes a newcomer to the label, in the shape of true musical pioneer, Skream.

The Croydon native has almost 20 years under his belt as a producer, spanning genres and BPMs, racking up releases with renowned labels such as Boysnoize Records, Crosstown Rebels, Hotflush and Solid Grooves, exploring all corners of electronic music and consistently pushing boundaries at every turn.

Anyone who has spent time on the dancefloor during one of his infamous “Open to Close” sets, has witnessed his versatility behind the decks. With a taste that refuses to be confined to a single genre, his passion for the music is clear to see in every selection.

The addictive “DUNNN” EP already features both tracks on Skream’s recent Essential Mix, and kicks off the title track in a playful mood, before a driving synth and heavy kick drum creep in, for a full assault on the senses. The groove soon takes hold and forever pushes things forward, while an infectious vocal appears at all the right moments, reverberating through time an space, creating those heads down hands up moments.

Second track “Tramadollied” shows off a darker, more intense side. Thriving kicks are joined by an eerie melody of disorientating bleeps and keys, that lure you into an almost trance like state, full of moody atmosphere and groove. Peak-time dancefloor heaviness from Skream that’s sure to keep eyes closed and feet stomping!
