We continue our musical journey through the African world in different scales. This time we go to Jamaica, for recording this new album; Palenque Rockers Vol 2, with the legends of reggae dancehall, recorded and mixed in the real Sound System style that was in vogue at the end of the 90s. This time we have worked with
wonderful artists as Foxy Brown, Daddy Shark, Glenn Ricks, Conrad Crystal and of course the almighty King Kong., who help us to discover mew artists and singers. All this artists were stars in the Dancehall arena at the end of the 90s, beginning of 21 century. 
We bring you this new album recorded in Kingston Jamaica, for the pleasure of all music lovers in the world. Mixes and Dubs by the artist known as Cerrero, in Bogota Colombia. 



This is a new series of recordings being done in Jamaica by the one and only, Palenque Records. Palenque Rockers Vol 3 is coming soon, and more musical surprises from the new talents in the reggae and dancehall scene.

On October 22nd, 2021, VP Music Group reissues reggae singer and producer Keith Hudson’s obscure and edgy masterpiece, Flesh Of My Skin, Blood Of My Blood on vinyl and CD, and for the first time, on digital streaming platforms.

The album, Hudson’s fourth, was released in 1974 to critical reception in London, paving the way for his future success and setting a foundation for his creative legacy, which was cut tragically short when he died from cancer in 1984. Hudson’s original records are to this day some of the most sought after by reggae vinyl collectors.

In Jamaica, Hudson is best known for his standout hit record with Big Youth, “Ace Ninety Skank” and his debut production with singer Ken Boothe “Old Fashioned Way.” From there Hudson’s output maximized the use of remix and versions that were the hallmark of early dancehall and soundsystem culture.

VP’s meticulous remaster of the original Mamba pressing of Flesh Of My Skin, Blood Of My Blood includes three tracks not on that original, plus extensive liner notes from Hudson biographer Vincent Ellis, combining to make this the definitive release of an obscure reggae classic.

DANCE CRASHER Sound was formed in 2004 in Badalona (Barcelona) by Manel and Raül, two veteran jamaican music lovers with the idea to bring to the dance the vibes and the spirit of the first Jamaican Sound Systems. Dedicating a special attention to the primitive & early Jamaican sounds like Ska, Rocksteady and Early Reggae, DANCE CRASHER Sound tries to transmit in every session the essence of the 60's Jamaican music. Inna di Dance Crasher Sound sessions you also can listen styles like Roots, Dancehall, Rub a Dub, Calypso, Dj'ing or New Roots embracing near to 50 years of Jamaican music tradition. 

DANCE CRASHER Sound has shared the stage with Lone Ranger, Bitty McLean, Dr. Ring Ding, Soulstereo and Lone Ark among others, playing on different parts of Catalonia and Spain, as well as Granada, Bilbao, Madrid, Austria and Jamaica.

DANCE CRASHER Sound has had the pleasure of working with artists like Alton Ellis O.D., Ken Boothe O,D., Derrick Morgan O.D., Winston Francis, Dennis Alcapone, Winston Reedy, Leonard Dillon, Bitty McLean or Kiddus I.

Dutty Artz is proud to announce the release of a new compilation: Geko Jones and Atropolis present: Palenque Records Remixed. The compilation takes Afro-Colombian roots music from San Basilio de Palenque and re-imagines it in the hands of a host of global remixers.
San Basilio de Palenque is a small autonomous community in Northern Colombia on the outskirts of metropolitan Cartegena. The town was settled by African slaves who escaped bondage from Spanish masters in 1602, and is one of the oldest continually inhabited communities in the Americas. Its strategic geographic location has allowed it to be defended from attacks by outsiders throughout Colombiaʼs history. Its strong and unique local culture has forced subsequent governments to recognize the communityʼs continued contribution to Colombian national identity.
Like many maroon communities scattered throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, the culture of San Basilio de Palenque has a mix of African, European, and Indigenous American influences. However, the strong political identity of the community and its diaspora is unmistakably African. So its no wonder that when contemporary Afropop music started to make its way to the Colombian coast through vinyl LPs in the 1970s, it was the Palenqueros who first took up this music as a mark of community pride. Soon, Palenqueros and other Atlantic coast residents made up their own versions of the Afropop and Afro- Caribbean sounds they were hearing, resulting in the popular music called Champeta Criolla. In recent years, various incarnations of Colombian popular music, like Cumbia or Vallenato, have been well- publicized and celebrated internationally. However, the cultural music of San Basilio de Palenque, with an unbroken 400 year-old history that stretches back to the founding of the settlement, remains more obscured.
For the past decade or so, Palenque Records founder Lucas Silva has done field recordings in the town of San Basilio de Palenque of musicians such as Batata, Son Palenque, and Sexteto Tabala. To introduce this music to a wider club-going audience, Silva teamed up with Dutty Artz ambassadorsAtropolis and Geko Jones to curate a compilation of remixed works of Palenquero cultural music. The partnership was initiated when Atropolis met Silva, on a trip he took to San Basilio de Palenque with his New York DJ crew Cumba Mela, and the two of them decided to collaborate on a project. Geko Jones, a regular visitor to the Northern coast of Colombia and staunch advocate for Afro-Colombian music, came on board to help curate the compilation. Together, the two reached out to the Dutty Artz extended family for their remixes, with a host of talented producers such as Captain Planetwho turns in a wobbly pop banger, So Shifty who are on a hype German-soca tip, Matt Shadetek on a pensive melodic 6/8 run, and DJs Thornato and Chief Boima highlight the Congolese flavor that so inspires the Palenquero community. Geko Jones and Atropolis also submit their own productions, for an ultimate result that is a reflection of a continued cultural exchange that exists between New York and Colombia.
