Last song from the album 'Koffie Boto' by Sukru Koffie, Kawina band from Surinam.

Like many South American types of music, the rhythm of the kawina originates in Africa. The Dutch shipped Africans to the American continent in the 16th century, where they had to work as slaves on various plantations (like sugar/coffee: ‘Sukru Koffie’). The slaves took their religions and music with them. To kill time they sang during the slave work, often in a typical pattern of one voice that asks and is answered in unison ('call-and-response'). In Surinam this music was performed so rhythmically that it became a dance, the kawina. 

Enjoy the thick slow rolling bassdrum, the playful percussion, cheerful chanting and the plottwist halfway into a fast tribal dance. 

‘Djugu Djugu’ is Sranan slang for something like ‘hassle’.. or in Dutch: ‘gedoe’
