in pulverem reverteris is a closer look at this moment when ashes meet sea foam. When water particles, air and ashes come together to become an entity. It is the  celebration of this union and the return of the inorganic matter to the sea. Together, they fly up in the sky and dive into the sea only to return ashore once again. A recurrent and perpetual trajectory, a delusion of immortality.
When looking at the see, at this undivided ambiance, the eye discovers meaningful details in the same way as the ear focuses on single events inherent in noise.

Abra Katabra's primary source of sound is the 555 timer IC that dates back to the 70's and incorporates in its sound the whole ethos of DIY electronics. Here, it is heavily processed by sound manipulation tools provided by a modern DAW. The outro is the opening melody of an old fairy tale cassette I used to listen as a child back in the 80's. The brain is befogged by the use of an opening tune as outro. A mental loop is created that wraps around you like a veil and travels you through time. An eerie warm light where future
and past collide in a soundtrack played on a warbling cassette player, thus forever stored in our memory. By collecting and evoking the sonic elements into the conscious mind the
piece gains a dual identity. It becomes an eternal element that can be recalled and projected into future conserving simultaneously its past character. Every time it is recalled a new entity is created as time reshapes it, in the same way as a magnetic tape is worn
and reborn in every loop.

"Follow The Pebbles" is a mini-collage of sound souvenirs. We shape our path intrinsically, but some of us are trying to follow the pebbles back in order to understand the elements that shaped us when children. All sounds were sourced from old fairy tales cassettes and
together they create a parade where the musical elements pass you by. Noise, artifacts, human voices that become animals' roar, all  blend as reality and fiction collide. Warped sounds match our istorted memories. Once in our memory sound gains a dual identity. It becomes an eternal element that can be recalled and projected into the future conserving simultaneously its past character. The listener is invited to dream again, even though aware that life is not a fairy tale, and to live happily ever after.

Follow The Pebbles

During my residency at the Footnote Centre for Image and Text in Belgrade I made this Radio Art piece. I interviewed four Serbians, asking them to share a memory from their childhood. The result is a 10 minute piece of words and music inspired by the work The Dreams (1964) by electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire and poet/dramatist Barry Bermange.

The drone was recorded earlier this summer, from an improvisation on a Synthi 100 at Athens Conservatory. Radio Belgrade hosts one of the few legendary Synthi 100 you can find worldwide, and therefore felt as the right music to use. Not only because of its meditative characteristics but also because it would somehow resonate with the city.

Sculpting Nostalgia

Gestures, frequencies and entangled beats interact in an improvisational piece where the sound of the unstable handmade and circuit bended synthesizers describes the concerns that Yannis Mihos sets in his text in the introduction of the piece. Let's take a deep breath and see what comes next, we who have lungs.
