What a first week, my busiest of the year, and doing what I can squeak in a little daily Jamuary work. Here, another simple sketch, playing with my recent child-like fixation on open-voiced triads.

Somehow layering guitar parts is a new territory and fascination for me. I've loved what Droid has done with guitars this month and am inspired to try my own hand with some Pally flavour.

Just getting started is a victory. Seeing it through till there was something (rough) to put up is the icing. I'm out of practice all around. Even knowing the great things I can expect from Jamuary, trepidation is taunting me, yet I overcame, I showed up, and I will again tomorrow.

(Apologies to all the lovely people taking time to comment on things. SoundCloud keeps calling me a robot and blocking me when I try to comment or repost. I think maybe I've got it sorted now.)

Jamuary2025 Day 10 - nothing comes from nothing

You'd think I'd remember to double check routings when changing inputs. You'd think I'd be careful not to lose takes and development ideas. You'd think I'd learn from past mistakes. You'd really think.

Jamuary2025 Day 11 - to the ether

Day 12 carried on from Day 11 and well into Day 13. I felt I had more to do with it compositionally. It's now more structurally and harmonically developed, but I've spent too much time in it to be objective about the result right now. Fresh ears tomorrow may tell me more. I've learned a lot and tried things new and things nearly forgotten. 

I'm far behind on listening to much of the work from fellow Jamuarians--I'm eager to dig in and catch up.

With no idea where to start, I decided a descending 6th was as good a place as any.

With little time to begin with, I've fallen back into this incredibly unproductive pattern with a dreadfully inefficient workflow, and I end up with just a rather unfocused string of things. The sparks of excitement haven't lasted long. I'm not sure how to get back to the inspiration of the middle of the month. 
On a more positive angle, I continue to learn something every day.

Jamuary2025 Day 28 - variations on a nothing

Originally from various sides of various mountain ranges near and far from the sea, Pally's got the waves and the crags and the peaks and the plains, the evergreens and the waves of grain, the salty breeze and the fireflies deep in those bonny veins. A forever tanline from the Bible belt and bad winter skin ensure that every song's a lie, and every lie's the damndest truth, and any truth a pretentiousest overstatement.
