Johannesburg is a strange place. It was especially strange growing up there in the 80’s and 90’s and in many ways I consider myself lucky to have experienced Jozi through that period of time.

I got to live through the unjust apartheid regime and then experience the joy of the rainbow nation. Not only did Jozi have a political and freedom orientated change in the early 90’s but rave hit us hard and because we had been segregated and shut off from global popular culture for so long we nose dived in- and consumed freedom to the highest level.

This song is a nod to that time and my up bringing in Johannesburg. The vocal reminds me of the beautiful township style vocals that the likes of Mariam Makeba are so famous for. Whilst the thumb piano is so engrained in South African musical culture that it would seem wrong not to include it in this tune. 

Turn it up and stomp your feet, and feel the energy and joy that only Africa can bring.

Giles & Diego is a newly formed french duo exploring different facets of profound and energetic vibes to satisfy dancers across the globe.

After their encounter on a Tunisian beach during a party where Diego held a DJ residency, the two french guys were drawn to each other by their mutual thirst for deep & melodic house grooves.

Both Giles and Diego have been active in electronic music for over a decade now. On the one hand, there’s Giles whose passion for life is driven by longtime love for electronic music in all its forms. Giles brings his pianist skills and emotional twist to the duo.

On the other hand, Diego, a seasoned drummer and DJ who already had a blast in the south of France scenes before joining forces with Giles and bringing his definition of groove.

“Lola” is their debut EP - coming out this fall after a 2-year lockdown. It is a vibrant celebration of the dance floor's energy coming back, with vintage sounds and modern vibes.
