This Carhartt WIP Radio show concerns the label Music From Memory, based in Amsterdam and formed in 2013 by Abel Nagengast, Jamie Tiller and Tako Reyenga. The label's ethos is to share overlooked and unreleased material from the 70's onwards, from all over the planet, on vinyl, with inspired packaging. After years of digging and DJing, the team continue to look further afield to unearth treasures that have often not been heard by anyone other than the artists themselves. Coming initially from a dance music perspective, Music From Memory's catalogue is impossible to categorize, involving ambient and new age styles, instrumentation and vocals, from drone and percussion tracks through to full blown songs. Releases have included artists such as Gigi Masin, Vito Ricci, Suso Sáiz, Leon Lowman and Dip in the Pool, to name just a few. Besides reissuing material from the past, they also give place to music from today and release with Gaussian Curve one of the finest contemporary bands dancing between ambient, downtempo and new age spheres. For Carhartt WIP Radio the Music From Memory folks prepared a journey through the vaults of their label. Enjoy.

Carhartt WIP Radio dives into the world of London based Apron records. Founded at the end of 2011 by London DJ and producer Steven Julien, previously known as Funkineven, Apron's releases reflect his passion for individual takes on house, disco, experimental, acid and electronic. Having released as Funkineven on Eglo records, Steven decided to launch a vehicle for his own view on things, starting with his very own Apron EP and has since released the likes of Greg Beato, Seven Davis Jr., Max Graef, Shanti Celeste, John T Gast, Hanna, Delroy Edwards and more. For Carhartt WIP Radio Funkineven aka Steven Julien jumped on his mixing desk and conducted a show with early label material and soon to be released new Apron stuff.

Carhartt WIP Radio September 2017: Funkineven aka Steven Julien - Apron Radio Show

We are very pleased to welcome Money $ex Records to our Carhartt WIP Radio channel - a Berlin based label managed by three friends that unite one thing: a love for all kinds of music. Since December 2015 Max Graef, Glenn Astro and Delfonic have released music which has been produced by them and their friends, including Gerry Franke, Tito Wun, C.A. Ramirez, Hodini, IMYRMIND, Dexter or Retrogott amongst others. Their styles are varied - it could be house, it could be jazz, soul, funk, hiphop, trap, or just a thrilling electronic dreamland from a producer’s mind. For Carhartt WIP Radio, DJ and producer Glenn Astro jumped into his private DJ booth and conducted a mix that features the multiple elements of the Money $ex history with a deeply moving, constantly groove story arc.
