Been listening to a lot of Billie recently, she's my idol, so I decided to do an a cappella cover of one of her most famous songs. I don't really get points for originality in this one but the original is so good I didn't want to mess with it!

My Man - Billie Holiday (Cover)

This has been my favourite song since Cat Empire's album Cities came out when I was thirteen, I've been meaning to record it for years. Its definitely one of their lesser known songs, but it has always stuck with me. My first attempt at some very amateur multi tracking as well.

Song For Elias - The Cat Empire (Cover)

Anther song I've been wanting to do for a while, I love the arrangement of the harmonies by Feist. The lyrics always intrigued me and I decided to do an a cappella cover of this beautiful tune using the wonders of multitracking!

My Moon My Man - Feist (Cover)

Another a cappella version of a Feist song, apologies for the bad quality mic that I used. This one was really fun to record with all the vocal layers.

Honey Honey - Feist (Cover)

The original song involves a lot more production with electronic beats and effects but it's such a cool song and I can't get it out of my head! I've been listening to a lot of Grimes lately, her pure high voice and minimalist composing really resonates with me.

Genesis - Grimes (Cover)

This is one of Little Dragon's more stripped back songs, simple and beautiful. Yukimi is one of my favourite singers, she bends notes so elegantly.

Twice - Little Dragon (Cover)

This is a cover of a cover by the swedish singer Lykke Li, who turned a beautiful song into a stunning chilled electronic tune, one I adore. It was fun to try and interpret the normally mixed sound effects using just voice and layering some beats. Give a listen to the original!

The original Plain Gold Ring was written by the incredible Nina Simone about a prostitute, but my favourite arrangement was sung by Kimbra. This is a cover of her Live at Sing Sing Studios version which I prefer over her album one. This is one of my absolute favourites and I've wanted to record this for a while :)

Plain Gold Ring - Kimbra (Cover)

First heard this slow soul song on "Live at Abbey Road" and Cee Lo completely blew me away singing acoustically. Took me about a year to remember and figure out what it was, now it's one of my favourite tunes. Rearranged it for an a capella layered mix, and I've used (for the first time) the simplest form of a drum machine.

Who's Gonna Save My Soul - Gnarls Barkley (Cover)

This song has the most incredible band arrangement and was very intimidating to attempt! Asa has such a rich voice and is beautiful to listen to, this is one of my favourite of her tracks. It's been quite a while in the making cos I couldn't get it just right! But here it is after lots of tweaking.
