'River of Dreams' was recorded at The Tragically Hip's studio near Kingston, Ontario in the autumn of 2000. Pam's song is an ode to water as a 'memory keeper', and a metaphor for the flow of our lives through joy and sorrow, navigating the deeper currents that arise. 
This track is from Pamela's debut record of original music, 'Tripping on the Truth', produced by Ray Montford. Ray's gorgeous guitar floats and anchors the melodic hook in this track, supported by the fine work by rhythm section Gary Craig/drums and John Dymond/bass.

This song was inspired by the novel 'The Mermaids Singing' by author Lisa Carey. There is an island off the west coast of Ireland called Inis Murúch -- the Island of the Mermaids -- a world where myth is more powerful than truth, and love can overcome even death. It is here that Lisa Carey sets her lyrical and sensual first novel, weaving together the voices and lives of three generations of Irish and Irish-American women. I read this novel and found that I was overtaken by the love story of Grace and Seamus. 
I wrote this song 'Mermaids', infused by the love story of this novel. I had come back to the piano after years of absence, and found that the chords and melody wove their way into my hands like sea foam and diamonds. I recorded this track at the Tragically Hip's studio, on their glorious grand piano on a Sunday morning, after I had made bacon, eggs and toast for the band. One take. Bacon and eggs in the air. Toast on my fingertips. Such glories come once in a rare while. Thank you to George Koller for the gorgeous cello anchoring the ocean of emotion on this track.
