Top-notch DJs and producers are often known for their globe-trotting ways, but Magda takes it to another level. Born in Poland, she came of age in Detroit and was eventually adopted by Richie Hawtin and the rest of the Minus Records crew. Now living in Berlin, she's been in the news as of late after the (somewhat surprising) announcement that she was leaving Minus after more than a decade and instead focusing on Items & Things, a label she runs with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce. Although the split was amicable, it does represent the start of an important new chapter in the techno veteran's career, so we figured that now would be a good time for her to put together an exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast series. True to form, Magda has delivered a deep, complex mix that often features three our four tracks playing at once while she combines techno—of both the pulsing Detroit and minimal variety—with bits of house, disco, and a few other surprises. Magda's future may be wide open, but there is little doubt that her DJ abilities are still on-point.

Radio Garzen - Kino Todo

"Burek" being a favorite snack in Croatia, sparked an idea roughly a decade ago when Mario Kolonic aka Pytzek and his partner Mislav Bobic set similar reputation goals but, this time by releasing music they're so passionate about. Basic idea was to press fat beats and hot electronic club tracks on wax, wrapped in plain white paper and served to music-hungry people all around the world. 
Over time two sublabels took off. First "Barba", focused on a wider range of techno and electro music and "Pomalo!", providing slo-mo aural pleasures for adults.
Today, BUREK Music stands for quality house, techno, disco, soul and all the in-between genres of electronic music, produced by artists from all over the world and released on wonderfully sounding and looking vinyl.
Together with the label work,  Pytzek spend the rest of its time cooking food as a true chef and djing here and there, often in the form of label showcase events featuring artists from their expansive label roster.
We had the pleasure to have him & Mislav some years ago in Paris in one of our parties alongside Dea Barandana and we played as well for them at the intimate but absolute belter of a club called "Masters" in Zagreb. What a party that was !
When you look at the big picture, Mario managed to keep the reputation of Burek as a truly delicious addictive affair. Enjoy the mix !

Mix for Paralelo 3 radio show

Residentes Balearicos is a new project founded by Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, both resident DJs in Ibiza and both hailing from Venice, Italy.

Together, they make music that tries to capture the amorphous energy of Ibiza, sizzling on sunny beaches, lulling through lounge conversations, and reaching palpable states in throbbing club nights before disseminating into the countryside air for replenishment.  

The project is based on a collaborative idea where Luca and Ale invite other artists from the island into the studio with the aim of sparking up new and fresh ideas for how Balearic music can sound, both within chillout and dancefloor disciplines.   

For Eivissenc, they were joined by DJ and producer Chris Coco. The music here is inscribed with the genesis of Residentes Balearicos: Luca’s flash of inspiration listening to old vinyl at the San Jordi Market and Ale and Chris’ help sculpting that idea into three radiant, highly danceable tracks.

Residentes Balearicos - Worldwide Conspirancy (Luca Averna, Ale Doretto) - s0392

Label boss Marco unearthed Lyon based, Brazilian born @pedro-b-2 during lockdown. Impressed by the young and talented artist's fresh perspective, he snapped him up for three tracks that bring a new and different kind of energy and elements of breaks, house, afro and baile funk that are all designed to make you dance in different and unexpected ways.

Opener 'Abre Caminhos' has tropical sounding percussion and wild jungle noises, bird calls and crashing hits all making for a steamy and shapeshifting tune unlike any other. 'Racine' then masterfully layers up scuffed and shuffling kicks with off-grid percussive rolls and ethnic vocal chants. It's a tribal tune with a humid vibe and killer old school bassline. 'Sai Sacanagem' closes out with a darker, more textured bassline and electro feel that is finished with paranoid vocals and proto-house grooves.

This is weird and wonderful music that fuses organic and synthetic sounds into brave new forms.
