They're rare, these moments, but this man here, Kalabrese, is one of the most reliable conjurers of such boom-boom magic. Zurich impressario Sacha Winkler has been in our heart (and record racks) since his first release "Airolo" thirteen years ago. It's fair to say that Kalabrese is the most original house producer in our small country called Switzerland. Here, Kalabrese talks about his new album "Independent Dancer" and the many unreleased gems he included on his podcast. We're proud to have you on board, Kala. Boom.

For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

Thanks for being there with us along the way. It really does mean the world to us...

Not only are we celebrating the 20th anniversary of the label. This is the 150th episode of our podcast series! That's 12,5 years of mixes from the left side of the dancefloor. For our jubilee we welcome Michael Mayer from Cologne. He is not only an amazing DJ, but also our distribution boss at Kompakt. Here's what he says about his mix:

"One fine day there was a package on my desk, inside a 7" single with good mood music on yellow vinyl, wrapped in a hand painted good mood cover. It was Pingipung 01, Peter Presto's "Es war Sommer" and it was love at first sight. That this flash in the pan would turn into a 20-year (business) relationship is one of the most beautiful stories you can experience in the music business. Pingipung is a beacon of DIY culture, fed by deep devotion to impossible music. I am very happy to be able to present this musical bouquet for their anniversary."
