ZEJŚCIE is a label based in Warsaw curated by 98brn, Some Guest, and iffi. The main focus of the group is to explore a leftfield approach to club sound with emphasis on the harsher and deeper aspects of electronic music, while also remaining open to all styles, encouraging diversity and inclusivity. ZEJŚCIE originated as a party cycle in the notorious Warsaw’s Narocz13 creative space, with ZEJŚCIE #0 being the first event in the building’s ongoing new chapter, starting in late 2021.

Lau Andersson’s debut album, The Weeping Siege, is accompanied by a visual side made by Lau and is a sonic walk where the listener is taken by their hand through known and unknown landscapes. 

Repetitive choir pieces, melodic cellos and fragmented rhythms leaves the listener at a place where language does not seem to reach - a place where language becomes sound, and where meaning is not meaning. From this place you can be without words.

The album makes references to Lyra Pramuk’s alluring vocal use, Arca’s experimental beats and Caterina Barbieri’s harmonic drones. Threads from these artists are bound together by Lau in a hymn which sings today. Lau further draws inspiration from artists such as Maria Horn and Sara Parkman’s album Funeral Folk and the record label XKatedral.

On the album, apart from long passages without words, there’s presented poetic sentences like: “Thee reeds are grieving, With mouths full of greed, Here I shall plant my seed, Behold, o weeping reeds, Only you reach the sea, My mother is the sea, My father the earth”. These small breaks into a lyric universe gives the listener space to think and gives room for the great, which is found in nature.

Lau about the album: “Many of the sketches for the different pieces were recorded with my phone while I was hiking in Georgia and Northern Italy in the summer 2023. The bare, beautiful landscapes and mountains, and the walk with sheep and cows made singing and hymns a natural communication with the elements which have no language.”

Lau Andersson is a Copenhagen-based sound and visual artist. Lau has until now founded the experimental visual animation duo Orgaphine, which has made music videos for for example the Xuri track Kali’s Dance, the ioulus album oddkin and Alto Aria I’ll Be Fine. Lau is educated as an electronic composer from The Copenhagen Conservatory of Copenhagen and has earlier released music under the name Raquin, an album released on Janushoved named Dance Of The Peacock.

Rhizome is a Copenhagen-based label started in 2020 by Aria Leth Schütze and Mads Krue Bugge. The label works with experimental music and alternative release formats and has released music from artists such as Alto Aria, Skarv, ioulus, Swell, Polly, Nemo, Laenz, Ida Urd, ill, Irmgard and Ingri Høyland as well as the compilation albums bag/belly/box and Hypersea. Rhizome has presented music at Øen, Alice, Mayhem, and Christianshavns Beboerhus in Copenhagen and Fitzroy in Berlin.

Gin&Platonic is a record label, platform, blog, and mix series from the Czech Republic which started back in 2016 and has since then published a very significant amount of cutting-edge releases in the field of post-ambient, abstract electronics. 2020 saw the collective release six records spanning from conceptual compositions of atonal music to harsh power electronics, mutant glitch, and vanguard dub. Ever-moving towards inspiring and fresh sounds, G&P will license its 17th release later this month on February 21st, namely the collaborative EP liquid house by Japanese producer Isamu Yorichika aka Toiret Status.

Known for his appearance on seminal labels such as Dream Disk Lab, Orange Milk Records, Noumenal Loom, Plus 100, Pedicure, Wasabi Tapes, Slagwerk, and more, the artist from the Japanese Yamaguchi prefecture works with the manipulation and coagulation of multiple sound sources - mainly from his everyday life, both IRL and URL - into brand new, colorful hybrid entities carving their sharp edges out of sonic digital synthesis. Isamu first started as a drummer in hardcore/noise, and the experience surely influenced his following production launched by the glossy, post-pop solo recordings Clean Scum and ObenjO out in 2015.  In liquid house, Toiret Status defines an artificial, fluid sound/land-scape in which objects are created, melted, and re-build in an endless process of fantastic elusiveness that is just as unseizable as it is corporeal. Glitch, pop, voices, juke, and all kinds of percussions and sound trickery are deployed with clinical precision and unrestrained enthusiasm by the producer, who evokes flows of crystal-clear, blinding exuberant energy. The digital realm is not a projection of reality, it's just the other way around.

The EP is composed of 7 tracks: 4 originals -  3 of which are a collaborative effort by Toiret Status together with the Polish producer, Warsaw’s 𝓰𝓵𝓪𝓶𝓸𝓾𝓻-affiliated ehh hahah, the South Korean, The Hague-based artist Cat Psalm aka Sima Kim, and obscure trap superstar Crimewave - and 3 reworks by the likes of Quantum Natives' Brood Ma, All-Centre's Harry Murdoch / hmurd, and Chinabot's Sabiwa. Today, we're glad to be premiering the remix by the experimental performer from Taiwan Sabiwa, who worked on the opening track #103 by taking Toiret's original sound textures and rhythmic patterns and reorganizing them in dense progressions of bright sounds and sharp percussions. The original digital pastiche of conceptual (no-)nonsense is reframed in a strongly percussive scheme based on gated, high-pitched vocal chops which appear to be coming from an eerie digital demon rattling around in infinite, kaleidoscopic surroundings.
