It’s a commendable ethos for a constantly evolving electronic music scene, to avoid any specific genre or trend & stand alone with a unique sound. The Salt Lake City pair do exactly this with the ‘4am’ EP, a 5 track collection that displays the versatile yet cohesive sound X&G have to offer. 

From the very first track, the EP feels like a lucid dream, influenced by a wild variety of sounds, maneuvering with ease from the eccentric ‘MAUB’ & ‘Mancha’ through to ‘Home’, a hypnotizing composition with vocals from the talented Kida.

​Oakland producer Thriftworks has carved out a niche for himself in the swirled out space between hip hop and bass. Real name: J.Atlas, Thriftworks, raised in Pennsylvania, has toured with Bassnectar and STS9, leading to a chock-full schedule of dates around the world. This weekend, though, will be a special one for the long-haired bass dropper, as he headlines Lucidity Festival in California.

It’s always a challenge to summarize over a decade of work within the music industry. There are heaps of challenges both big and small one has to handle and embrace to remain fluid enough sway with the current of change. One of the biggest correlations that every accomplished artist we feature over SoundPark expresses is an acute level of patience and resolve to never lose sight of their artistic expression in its purest form. With fifteen years under his belt, Los Angeles based Michael Joseph’s accomplishments span across a variety of genres and pseudonyms. 

As SAAND, his melancholic audio tales are no doubt intended to motivate a floor over the course of an evening. The sulky textures that flow through SAAND’s palette add depth while simultaneously controlling the intensity of the music. SAAND consistently demonstrates control over the pace of his music and this skill will allow any melancholic shade of house music to flourish with enthusiasm. SAAND’s ability has amassed a punchy resume of performances that cover some lustrous festivals including Lightning in a Bottle, Woogie Weekend, and Mexico’s BPM among others. His releases are found riddled across affluent labels that are also pushing the envelope in their own way. Favorites including Dilate, Motek, and Union Jack can all be found highlighting SAAND’s work. 

Outside of Joseph’s musical prowess, his contribution to the southern California based music publication Music is 4 Lovers shouldn’t be short changed. As the Director and Senior Editor, Joseph regularly exhibits years of music knowledge to the outlet which has helped advance its reach far beyond its California walls. Music Is 4 Lovers has distinguished itself as a prominent independent music publication and Joseph’s influence is clear. Frankly, this is a great example of what separates an artist from a taste maker.  Over the next hour, audio story teller SAAND weaves a dynamic audio tale that seeks harmony between energy and gracefulness. Welcome to the Park <3

Ipman is a name that's been coming up an awful lot recently, and for all the right reasons. The moniker of Jack Gibbons, it has come to mean the exciting new face of UK dance music, unleashing gritty techno, menacing dub and breakbeat nightmares to devastating effect.

After Gibbons' debut album, Depatterning, first turned up in the DT office, it didn't take long for us to jump on the Ipman bandwagon. Signed to Tectonic - the Bristol powerhouse headed up by Pinch - the album drops October 16th, and offers a glimpse at the nation's electronic heritage, drawing heavily from nostalgic influences to create a contemporary kaleidoscope of sound. 

It seems Gibbons' takes a similarly varied approach in his track selection process too. The Herefordshire DJ's Spotlight Mix contains work from key figures, renowned for their distinct sounds: Objekt, Kowton, Cristian Vogel, Randomer, Tessela, Aphex Twin... the list goes on. Whether this is a pro selecta flexing his muscles, or simply Jack getting bored easily (and he has admitted a tendency to do that), we're impressed to say the least, and we think you will be too.
