Using a custom script and virtual MIDI port, and browser-based MIDI synth app that I named: 'TekTones', I recorded the variations of values from sensors in a fish Aquarium, and converted them to MIDI signals. Then adjusted/added percussion, etc to the mix.

as a central point of reference of grischa lichtenberger‘s »la demeure/il y a péril en la demeure« complex, raster-noton releases a limited edition of three 12“ vinyl EPs that are accompanied by a handmade, signed and individualized screen print.

the three EPs were set up as an experiment. each of the records is guided by a word that could be described as a phantasmagoria, a delusion of the 20th century – like a metaphor that is concerned not only with its immediate meaning, but with an implication more emotional, more irrational, telling something about the mindset of the not so distant past.

these keywords already existed before the production on the tracks began and thus played the role of an indirect orientation or playground for association. nevertheless, the EPs are not conceptualized, but rather a collection of habits and strategies in relation to the titles.

common to all EPs of the triptych is the question of a connection between intimacy and the public sphere. aesthetically, the music presented on the EPs ranges from distressing and unaligned dancefloor-oriented tracks to tribal and politically charged drones to unsettling noise ballads. on »spielraum«, for example, hypnotizing music box melodies are combined with claustrophobic breakbeats. »allgegenwart«, on the other hand, presents mechanical rhythms and sawing pads, topped with high-pitched warning sounds. last but not least, the final EP »strahlung« features self-forgetful, gloomy and melancholy tracks backed by melodies that remind of a barrel organ turned upside down.

…But For me there is no question about who creates the most beautiful sounds in the world – Mr.Harold Budd is the answer. His early compositions embraced 1960s minimalism, later in 80’s he contributed to the genre we call “ambient” nowadays, but his primary inspiration back in a days was not music, but visual art, particularly abstract expressionism of Jackson Pollock, Rothko, Serge Poliakoff. Influenced by black culture of jazz, he played with Albert Ayler while in army. Since then There's just a special, particular tone & atmosphere to Harold Budd's work that you can’t find anywhere else - Sometimes soothing & transporting, sometimes brittle & elusive, but never boring or bland. After spending 50 years in music, with about 40 album releases, Mr. Budd’s music still sounds haunting & tender to listeners.

Towards the end of 2019 I wrote & recorded Two Days part 1 
at this point it was just titled "Two Days" as I had not intended to compose a second part. My initial idea was to perhaps to do a series of long form works which would be released in the digital format, providing the inspiration continued to flow. In early 2020 I released "Two Days Pt 1" on bandcamp only and the response and support seemed very positive. 

A few more long form works happened from week to week and then the Covid Pandemic lock down arrived, I found myself out of work as many others did and my long form works seemed to be a nice antidote for many who now found themselves in a new and very uncertain routine. 

Many people asked if I planned to release these works on CD, which I liked the possibility of, however due to the proficient output of my work I doubted that any labels could take it on, so I decided to launch my own label to release these works. The original "Two Days" clocks in at 40 minutes so I decided that I would return to the piece and re work it and include a second part to give my fans/followers something extra if they wish to purchase the CD and also to utilise the space on the format.
