Pancake 011 - Luise

Sesh Orka is a DJ and selector from Berlin. He's got a big love and heart for rare and undiscovered records and is always on the hunt for the next one. He love playing long and extended sets in or with different genres and tempo and tries not to limit himself. Usually you can find him in the Berlin scene when spinning records in clubs or on his own events which he curates in various locations around the city.  For our 12th edition of Pancake Enorme, Sesh Orka is gracing us with an hour of trip hop, funk, disco, house and hip hop. Enjoy! <3

Louis EMP (he/him) - originally from Munich, now based in Augsburg - is one of the co-founders of the party series PERRAS. He is a resident DJ of the queer club night Garry Klein, which is taking place regularly at Rote Sonne. Shaped through New Wave, Krautrock and Trip Hop influences in his childhood, Louis‘ main focus lies on showcasing the psychedelic, trippy and timeless facets of electronic music. Without being attached to a single genre or pace, his sets are the outcome of passionate music digging.
In clubs he usually contributes interesting mixtures of Progressive, Tech- and Tribal-House, sprinkled with celestial layers of Ambient, Dub and Acid. Louis EMP constantly strives for the development of extraordinary atmospheres and surprise moments. While always being in exchange with audiences, his distinct sense for the right energy sends listeners on a journey between hypnosis and ecstatic frenzy.
For this ""Pancake Enorme"" mix though Louis selected tracks that he couldn't play out in clubs so far but has an interest in nonetheless. The result is a fast paced and euphoric journey suited for listening in the car or on long train rides. Also it's his first attempt ever at combining Breaks, IDM and Garage-ish tunes – most of them containing Ambient and some Dubby elements – to a homogenous yet diverse mixtape while still containing a dynamic suspense curve. His primary goal was to create a fun and trippy set – sprinkled with delicious twists & turns – which puts his interest in the music he typically plays at clubs in a new context. Endschoii!

So happy to share the recording from my last set at Open Ground from December 2024. 

It was an emotional journey ~ I wanted to tell a story of diving into underwater dream lands, where spirit guides and glitchy creatures meet and send us messages from the other side... where sound takes over the brain and opens something in the heart and body.
I waved through many genres ~ ambient, jungle, electro, dubstep, drill, jazz, techno and the wonky in-between. It felt like I had the chance to express a fuller spectrum of who I am as a music lover. 🙏

That night, I had the honour of opening for the legend Surgeon ~ someone who’s deeply inspired my path since the very beginning. Sharing that moment with him and connecting was just wow. 🥹

Open Ground truly is one of the most special places on earth ~ the care, the sound, the freedom, the community, the crew… just perfection. 

So grateful to be invited back this saturday ! (26.07.2025)

"The context:
I am alone. I am found. I died alone. I never thought I’d be found. I am overwhelmed by memories of a dystopian existence on a collapsing planet where evil took over and subsumed good. All of the kindness evaporated and was swallowed by greed. Memories of my past life occlude my consciousness causing confusion between modes of time like a mirage. Is it the past, present, or future? I can no longer tell.

A journey through being:
Confronted by the pain of knowing but trying to exist and embrace being in the world. Did I give up too quickly? Did I fail to change reality? What did I sacrifice in order to function and live a worldly existence like everyone around me? Blinded by hedonism, the collapsing of the mind and soul into the throws of desire left me empty. I gave up. I lost myself. I returned to the comfort of despair. It’s throbbing. To live without hope is to live in despair. Was there a reprieve from it all? Distractions, pleasure, and attachments turned into a vicious cycle of yearning and loss. Accepting impermanence with a half-open heart. It never got better. It just got worse. Functioning with an ever-growing sense of doom. And now I’m here. Alone. All I have are my memories. But existing in confusion from when these memories took place. Introspection with escapism outside of time. The vicious interplay between existence and non-existence. I am left with nothing."

Shanti has made textured waves in Chicago’s techno scene with her curation of dark, sinister, and ethereal soundscapes. Music has always been a means of coping with the otherness and hybridity Shanti experienced throughout her life. She has been deeply moved by the transcendent ability of music to express concepts, states of consciousness, and conflicting emotions. Shanti’s sets weave a story of the simultaneous despair and yearning that are intertwined with the human condition and illustrate an intentional trajectory through combining and cultivating surreal, atmospheric, and haunting sounds.

Enamored by the liminal dynamics of sound, she cohosts Otherworldly Ambiguity with Scum.ee –an experience that is centered around the phenomenon of existing in between and outside of pre-existing concepts and rigid categories. She is also a member of techno collective Research & Development and hosts a monthly radio show, “Liminal Radio” on WIIT 88.9 FM featuring thoughtful artists at the core of Chicago’s underground music scene. Shanti has had the privilege of warming up and closing out dancefloors for incredibly inspirational artists such as Rrose, DJ Nobu, Ø [Phase], Aurora Halal, Mozhgan, Lady Starlight, Black Light Smoke, Esther Dune, Zenker Brothers, Noncompliant, Xtin, and more. She has had the immense pleasure of conjuring spirits at Chicago’s most beloved clubs such as Smartbar, Smoke & Mirrors, Podlasie Club, and several underground gatherings.

Experiencing music outside of the confines of a club or the underground is extremely important to Shanti as she had initially discovered her favorite artists through online podcasts and radio. The universalizability of podcasts and radio enable music to be experienced by more humans situated in different contexts. This is why she has contributed to many notable online mix series and radio channels. Her mixes have been featured on The Black Lodge Radio, SutroFM, Mutant Radio, PPRZ, Death Decay & Magic, Braid Records, Low Visibility, Dance All Day, and m50’s etc radio among other podcasts and shows. This past year, Shanti has expanded her surreal storytelling beyond Chicago by playing in Amsterdam, LA, Detroit and notable Midwest festivals such as Minnesota’s The Great Beyond and Madison’s Musique Électronique. This Halloween, she will be playing at Chicago’s notoriously dark music festival, Sanctum.

Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the Greek dj & producer ANFS  (Vanila // Modal Analysis).

ANFS is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Athens, Greece. 
From an early age, he engaged in various musical projects, eventually gravitating towards electronic music, experimental electronics, and unconventional sounds during his studies in sound design. 
In 2012, alongside friends Kondaktor and 3.14, he co-founded the record label Modal Analysis, aiming to document and promote Greece's burgeoning electronic scene. 
Expanding his curatorial endeavors, he launched his personal imprint, Vanila, in 2015, further solidifying his influence in the electronic music landscape.

ANFS's discography showcases his evolution as an artist. 
His early work includes the Ground EP (2014) on Modal Analysis, characterized by its rhythmic intensity and incorporation of early 20th-century Greek folk elements. 
He continued to explore dark, industrial soundscapes with releases like Mass (2017) and The Age of Ephemeral Man (2018). 
In 2019, he released Havouza, further refining his signature blend of distorted textures and complex rhythms.
In 2021, ANFS unveiled #011 on Vanila Records, demonstrating a matured sound that seamlessly fuses experimental electronics with dancefloor sensibilities. 
The following year, he released the Seperator EP (2022), a six-track project that delves into experimental industrial noise, featuring tracks like "Klepsimo" and "Piperi," which highlight his ability to blend traditional motifs with contemporary electronic production.
Beyond his solo work, ANFS has contributed remixes for various artists and participated in compilations, such as his track "Amete" featured on the V/A release by Analogue. 
His collaborations and remixes underscore his versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Through his innovative productions and dedication to fostering the Greek electronic music community, ANFS continues to be a pivotal figure in the experimental and industrial techno scenes.

We are glad to propose his kindly given set recorded on July 12th @ Astron Club in Athens.
