This week I welcomed NYC-based beatmaker and soundsmith Swaya onto the show. We talked production, lockdowns, and other assorted mysteries of life. Also, her new EP on PTP, EXistence, is pretty damn excellent. Swaya also contributed a curated playlist for the second hour, so a rap-heavy first hour turns into a more grounded yet cerebral second. Hell yeah.

Hi Everyone! 

So I put together a 30 minute Ableton set which I played at a musical showcase called "Weird Sounds 2". This is a recording of the set from a camera (not the mixer). 

This set was an amalgamation of a bunch of different sounds that I curated into a set that is supposed to be a marriage of all of my different influences. You will hear samples from all kinds of different media including video games, stan Twitter videos, pop, dubstep and even hardcore. It's a true whirlwind of vibes, so it's a lot to process haha 

Either way I am extremely proud of this set. Even though the audio quality isn't the best, I do feel it adds to the rawness of what I put together.

Panorama (fka Pandemic), presented by Straw, is an audio collage that airs on WRIR in Richmond, VA. It's an audio collage revolving around mental health, isolation and recovery, using weaponized music, found sounds, and field recordings. Genres spotlighted run the gamut from metal to club to noise to underground hip-hop, with a focus on underrepresented voices.
