This past Saturday I was honored and humbled to work with the only and the one BSTFRND, a tunesmith/producer/DJ/dope music friend. BSTFRND's mix spotlights a host of favorite cuts and unreleased music, some of which I can confirm is coming out with some killer MCs later this year. 

But also, the laptop crashed halfway through. Just for transparency's sake, the mix here is missing DJ Ave McRee's "Diddy Bop" and sleepyeyes' "graffiti blues." The insertion of "Vision Me" was a on-the-spot patch, which got the rest of BSTFRND's mix back up and running. 

I set the scene for the first hour with some genre roulette, lovely things, more new stuff, and Nujabes-related digs.

Also showed a student of mine FLCL for the first time last week. Why am I mentioning this? Just because.

It's an audio collage revolving around mental health, isolation and recovery, using weaponized music, found sounds, and field recordings. Genres spotlighted run the gamut from metal to club to noise to underground hip-hop, with a focus on underrepresented voices.
