This song was inspired by Undertales from many years ago! I love Arknights and many of the operators so I wanted to take voice lines from the game and put them into a song. I focused on taking voice lines only from operators I use frequently and ended up with this!

I'm still not sure how I feel about this end product. I wanted to add more instruments in the second part but I feel adding in anything more would take away from the voice lines (which should be the focus). For now, I think I'll leave it here and maybe return to it in the future!

Arknights Motivational

I don't have much to say about this piece! It started off as a short little loop I was humming to myself (you can probably tell which part!). I added some instruments, some harmonies, and here we are!

Twilight Snow

Had this little tune stuck in my head and put it down. Kept adding chords to it to make it sound a little better. Not too sure what feeling I get from it so leaving it untitled. Planning to add more to it eventually!

Untitled

I am so thankful to my friend Luna Ecaille for helping me with this track! I started making this piece for a friend's birthday and thanks to Luna, this song became so much better! 

In this first version, you can hear the ending lacks strong any strong resolution but in the final version, the build and subsequent resolution is so much more cathartic!

Hello Again Version 1

Here's the final version of Hello Again! I previously mentioned my friend Luna Ecaille who helped me a lot with this track. We both loved the interaction between the counter-melody and melody. Thanks to him, the resolution at the end really builds with both the french horn and the viola before ending in that nice cathartic resolution. 

This piece originally began as a birthday present for one of my closest friends and its ended up being one of my all time favorite pieces. I imagined a future where we had lost touch but meet each other purely by chance at one of my favorite mountain-side places. We spent the afternoon talking and this piece was the piece I imagined in playing in the background if our life was movie!

Hello Again Final Version

At Battle's End, now renamed Return from Battle, is one of my favorite tracks. It's also one of the tracks I feel I can keep adding to! In this case, I decided to try and add a few more instruments. In this case, I used a different sample library for all of the previous instruments which made the track sound a little different! I also added some viola plucks and more timpani beats. The interesting thing is I still like the original and this new version! The original version is simpler and cleaner while this one has a more powerful quality to it.

Return From Battle Version 2

Following the short piece I made for practice, I really wanted to extend it into a full song. I loved the way it sounded but needed to envision different melodies and parts. I still don't love the transitions in this piece but I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I love it. They feel sudden but appropriate overall.

Travelling Down the Road

I originally started working on this piece as a way to practice orchestrating a small sample using a guide by Arn Andersonn here (https://evenant.com/music/a-simple-way-to-more-memorable-melodies-2/). It was a really helpful framework to start building from and I ended up with this beautiful piece!

Orchestration Practice

I started this track as another way to practice orchestration. I laid down this entire song in piano first and then decided on instrumentation. I didn't have an overall sound I was hoping for when I first started but by the end, the staccato of the viola influenced the flute staccato notes which made me think of chirping or singing birds. Hence the title!

Chirping Birds

The story behind this song is the character speaking, Ch'en, notices the Doctor sleeping. She notes how careless he is and decides to wake him up by playing the piano. She hasn't played in a while plus the Doctor is sleeping, so she plays quietly, tentatively at first. As she starts playing though, she quickly starts remembering how to play and becomes lost in her music. But not entirely. Shortly after she starts playing, she notices the Doctor has woken up and is staring at her. The Doctor wants her to keep playing and so she does, this time, fully embracing the music.

I only started making music in 2020 and am hoping to make more in the future! I  don't have a specific goal yet aside from creating orchestral music!
