Oli’s high quality output of playful and dynamic compositions on show yet again. A long path ahead for this kind soul and a good start point for this cohesive artist-label BPR hook up. Syz carves a distinct sound with clear intention in the cross hybrid field of techno leaning, drum heavy, dubbed out, and often grime inspired broken beat sonics. As always, there’s plenty of subtleties, chaptered progression and unpredictable flurries of hooks to keep you moving.

We didn't overthink it but had fun which shone through on the tracks. For us, that has been a big lesson. Episode 4 of my Oct-Feb residency on Radio Relativa! First hour with me, as usual, throwing down some bumpy weird techno and bassy stuff before we welcome New York-based producer and DJ Ovid to take the reigns for the second hour! A pulsating mix that jumps between dark and moody percussive sounds interspersed with lighter house-leaning moments.

Ovid has seen his own music productions released on Ireland's Flood – a label with a focus on heavy drums and driving percussion, alongside multiple other self-releases, as well as being a regular on New York's The Lot Radio and in the local club scene.

A new place for their friends and like minded artists to call home, Vienna (named after the city in which they met) kicks off with a three track ode to 90's IDM and rave culture. 
Heavy on the atmospherics, opener ‘Stay Young’ weaves field recordings and background noise between primal melodies and UK breaks for an immersive and deeply ethereal cut. ‘Butterfly Walk’ takes you further into the rave, blending classic 90’s euphoria with uplifting piano chords and twisted acid synths, before Stanley’s nostalgic anthem ‘I Neva Said it’ closes out the EP by reworking a David Grant vocal over a kinetic electro beat.
Recreating all the experiences and emotions of raves gone by, but through a contemporary lens, Vienna001 offers an impressive glimpse into what’s in-store for the fledgling imprint.

Here Mixmag premieres label co-founder Axefield's wonky, bassy and bold ballad aptly titled '140 Trak'. It's ravey, it's deep and it's gripping. Tip, this tune bangs!
