PanGaia - Demo Reel

An acoustic act -two voices and one guitar- that teeters out on the edge of the acoustic spectrum, PanGaia may surprise you with an interlude of poetry or tread into more upbeat and alternative lands, but stands upon consistent roots of the lyricism of folk. Though, it’s even been uttered on the wind several times that they have ‘shades of the blues … yet are not the blues’. The voices of PanGaia have been likened to Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Robbie Robertson, Bob Dylan, and John Martin … then PJ Harvey, Julie Driscoll, Lene Lovich, and Patti Smith. With a sound that bridges several harmonic and rhythmic territories, it is no mistake that PanGaia’s name alludes to the borderless ancient world of Pangaea. Why believe in borders and genre filled boxes, when you can simply believe in music’s ability to unite, uplift, share, allow expression, and ignite curiosity? 

PanGaia is a duo of New Zealand and Canadian origins, who intersected their sounds in Italy. PanGaia’s musical sound, akin to its widespread birthplace, takes influence from many shores within the musical sphere. 

Pan (half man, half goat) is the perfect balance of man and animal, and is the translator for Gaia (Mother Earth) for he is in harmony with nature. He knows how to hear Gaia’s voice, and reflects this through his music. 


PanGaia long for music to express the similarities in the forever unfolding pages of time and space, to trace footsteps back to the old world and let it teach us about the new, to let the universal nature of sound allow communication to run like a flourishing river between us. Music is the one universal language we have.

PanGaia is Anthony Farese and Elise Isabella. Farese, although classically trained through the conservatory, has a contemporary vision for music- to break and bend all preconceptions and theories on the subject. Elise Isabella has previously been telling stories through spoken and written poetry, but can’t deny the universality of music any longer- she is now letting the hand of music guide her voice.
