EMA’s Woozy label continues apace with WZY2.5; a new compilation highlighting 8 artists from Ireland and afar that embody the imprint’s obsession with low-end futurism. Featuring 2 production debuts, this release acts as an exciting snapshot of the talented global community surrounding the label and its founder.

Dublin-based Ambit kicks us off with Act Of Goodness, her impressive debut that skanks on a ‘08 dread-step tip. Fellow Dub PLUS ONE drops/raises the tempo for TRIAL, a stripped back halftime sub workout. Mid Air’s Huna seesaws a techno dancehall/d’n’b lurch with wild exploratory sound design in Lang. More Cowbell’s Eich also debuts with the mid-tempo party bass swagger of INDUCTION. Vancouver’s Destrata applies throbbing wubs and dramatic breaks on a smart 2-step break in Amphibian Barrier. Amsterdam’s Jasmín takes things on a more sinister route, delivering the technoid punk chug of Grumpy Cat. New York’s Sobolik revs up the gears with the playful ‘n’ bouncy hardcore rush of Deadly. WDDS sees us out with Slow Burner, a tense d’n’b roller that itches with junglist rinse-out fervour for a proper finale.

We’re delighted to share Bristol based DROMEK’s ‘Mistura De Bossa’. His repeated knack for chopping up and subsequently ruining breakbeats finds itself in the form of an 8 minute Skalpel style jazz odyssey, by way of several seminal samba and bossa nova samples and a spicy sprinkle of self-referential sweaty rave culture.

JUDDER launches its own label with the first release being a VA "Judder Compilation #1". Expect nine tracks, exploring bass-oriented sonics around the 130–160 bpm range, from the likes of both worldwide acknowledged and up-and-coming artists. A huge palette of sounds and different moods meticulously flows through each track from the very beginning to an end.

The duo Poima opens the release with hypnotic and viscous swampy vibes, at the same time An Avrin brings groovy dancefloor-ish breakbeat settings. JUDDER resident Oddkut comes in with a percussive-driven heavy-hitter, while Nattah showcases her skills with unpretentious yet deeply pervasive stepper "False Trail". DUBRAW's very own Skotcha delivers pure shellings with a skippy grime-influenced "Shells" and, as usual, Champion Sound are ready to bury the soundboy with nothing but a straight belter. Flint's minimalistic approach to production continues to unfold through an ever-swirling and ever-twisting "Amok" and so does Dawn Razor's with a very funky and dubby dancefloor tool. The one to complete the compilation is Kapha, sharing an enigmatic clicky juke-track "Act & Pause"

Dawn Razor - Solid Block

The next offering from our in-demand Satellite Trax sublabel brings us just north of our HQ in Madison as we finally connect with an electrifying club music maker. When it comes to the Midwest, you really do not have to travel far to find a hardworking artist that is deserving of the spotlight.

Our first encounter with Bottoni and his growing collection of dancefloor sonics came in 2022 while digitally crate digging on Bandcamp. We were astonished to learn that these tracks were not coming from an unknown bedroom producer in the UK, but rather from an emerging talent out of the great state of Wisconsin. His work then made it to our friends at YUKU, a prolific label pushing forward-thinking art out of Prague. The familiarity in his sound implies that he is a student of formative club music from across the pond, yet his take on it feels more than just a nostalgic recreation.

Bottoni’s obsession with late-90s jungle and drum ‘n’ bass makes his productions feel like a balanced blend of rustic influences with modern, high-fidelity characteristics. This can be heard throughout “Stone Wheel EP,” his latest contribution to the global market of dancefloor weaponry. The project wastes no time in raising the energy with its title track - groovy percussive elements are layered over its heavy bassline, serving as a proper introduction. Already a favorite of our DJ allies that are giving it early playtime, “Mae” is a dark twist to the EP with its rattling low-end and off-kilter structure. “Dusk Pan” is a showcase of jungle down to its simplest form, where its breakbeats are allowed to shine and the sample selection can be flaunted. “Hellp” explores a jazzy side of the project, while still being held together by grueling bass and shuffling percussion. To demonstrate his passion for our music history, Bottoni recruited one of Chicago’s most prominent figures in its niche drum ‘n’ bass community. Stunna takes on remix duties for “Hellp,” turning up the tempo and fusing an old-school DnB style with soulful traits that leave it on an uplifting note.

Disclaimer: “Stone Wheel EP” contains serious bass weight. As some of Bottoni’s best work yet, the project solidifies that he is more than just an underground up-and-comer. He is ready to elevate his status from a renowned local DJ, to a household name in the dance music sphere. With each of his new releases freshening up the club circuit, we have no doubt that the growth in audience will happen soon enough.

Satellite Trax - an expansion of our core imprint that focuses on dance-centric music and its club roots; part of the foundation within our sonic heritage. This sublabel serves as a primary source of dancefloor weaponry for DJs and enthusiasts aiming to unveil the latest rhythms heard from around the electronic music sphere.
