Deep & Sexy Podcast no.23 - Live recorded at Necker Island. Last week I had the honour to play at sir Richard Branson's own private Island, which is part of the British Virgin islands. After a show in Panama, a show on top of a mountain in Utah with a stunning sunset, these tracks came out of my recordbag on this beautiful island. The environment of a beach, a BIG hot tub, palm trees, cocktails and amazingly smart, intelligent and most of all FUN people I played a 4 hour set (with live on Violin mister Dave Kim and support by legend DJ John Dill) until we took the last boat off of the island at 3:30am. An amazing adventure! I have been in the studio again the last couple of days to be sure that some new tracks will come your way soon! Have fun listening for now and see you soon! Hasta la vista!

The swarms of powdered-sugar-coated bumblebees buzzed listlessly over the sunset fields. Little streams of chocolate syrup ran through patches of colorful candy flowers. In the clouds, he saw such profound scenes as an angelic mother holding a newborn baby, and he saw that no human creation, no human work of art - from Beethoven to Rembrandt - could ever come even close to the beauty that was all around him. In that moment of pure joy, all of human effort seemed absolutely trivial and laughingly pathetic in comparison. The Bearded Man marveled as his magnificent beard seemed to grow, curl, and twist in front of his very eyes. He could slow down time or speed it up, depending on what he felt like. He didn’t just know, he truly felt deep down that all creatures were connected. He knew that he was experiencing what great men like Socrates had felt before him. He was grounded. On this profound day, when he was younger, The Bearded Man caught his first glimpse of paradise, and he’s been trying to get back there ever since. A place where the good times stretch on forever...

this song is a very special one for us. We found the singer of this track, Mark Wilkinson, almost two years ago on Youtube. We loved his voice so much that we asked him to work with us. 

Since then we kept working on this track. But we never got 100 % happy with the result, because you need to know...we are really perfectionists. We try to increase our creativity and knowledge about music every day.

The Bearded Man has the unique ability to travel through time, more or less at will, or at the very least, when it’s convenient for him to escape a boring dinner party. In 1851, he broke bread with Captain Ahab, calling himself Ishmael for some unknown reason. He went on that fateful quest to find Moby Dick, which coincidentally made for a *hilarious* story decades later when The Bearded Man and Richard Melville Hall (better known by his stage name “Moby”) had drinks on the rooftop of his NYC apartment. The artist Moby asked a lot of questions about Moby Dick, and in turn, The Bearded Man asked a lot of questions about Vera Hall. Both were fascinated by these legendary figures from the past. Moby had never met Vera Hall, but he felt they shared an unspoken bond. For his part, The Bearded Man recalled Alabama in the early 1900s. He had heard of Ms. Hall, but had never met her. Androma was actually alive at the time, so the pair telephoned him to find out more about the famous songwriter. Androma knew some things about her, but not as much as Boy Kiss Girl. So they all had a massive tele-conference to get to the bottom of “the real story". In the end, they troubled hard indeed to come up with this song. The Bearded Man frequently travels to 2016 just to hear it whenever he needs a reminder of what soulful music is supposed to sound like!

Ahhh Madrid. The old alma drid. The old stomping grounds of The Bearded Man. "Who needs money when you got friends?”, he was often heard saying. And you can live like a king for cheap there. The bocadillos alone make any trip to Madrid 100% worth it. For those low on funds, going out is a simple mater of finding a church square and just sitting down on the ground. Before long, groups of eager salesmen will descend on you, offering cheap, €1 cans of beer, snacks, and more. Sittin’ n’ sippin’. Hanging out with hundreds of like-minded people on a gorgeous, clear-skied evening, listening to music and great conversations. It was here that The Bearded Man met a captivating girl, who struck up enchanting conversation with him. Just as things were getting good, she said she had to leave, but not before asking The Bearded Man to join her later that evening for sangria. In his mind, The Bearded Man was sure she said “Mesón de la Guitarra”. Unfortunately, what she had *actually* said was “Mesón de la Tortilla”. As our hero waited in the dimly lit cave, he ordered himself a pitcher of sangria. It was surely the best he had ever had in his life, but where was she? Even though he was waiting for the girl, he quickly lost track of time. A local tuna had arrived, serenading all the guests with brilliant Spanish songs. Before he knew it, he was swept up in the moment, and the entire night had passed him by in a blur of great songs and laughter. Walking home, he finally remembered the girl. Talk about being in the wrong place at the right time. Oh well, some days are just like that. And wouldn’t you know it? He never saw her again.

There was a time when The Bearded Man spent a lot of money on cars. Like a LOT. But it wasn’t on speed. Hell no! It wasn’t on crotch rockets or import tuners or any of that honky bullsh**. He spent his cash on them low-lows, girl. He’d ride up round sunset, hydraulics in full swing, on some unsuspecting hotties from the block. When the girls saw him coming, they’d take their sunglasses off, time would slow down, and they’d simultaneously mouth the words: “Daaayyyyuuumm.” Needless to say, The Bearded Man knew how to make one hell of an impression. They admired his ability to drive in a lowrider. They admired his ability to own a car. But most of all, they admired the fact that his owning those things must have made him a better man. I mean, why else would people do it? Who cared about his personality? Who cared about his rhymes (which were mad ill by the way)? Who cared about whether or not he had a job? The lowrider said enough. Just like Aphex Twin’s iconic ‘Windowlicker’, The Bearded Man would often encourage these ladies to join him in his ride, and they’d bounce off into the California sunset. Hey come on, it was the 90s! You can’t blame him for that!
