This beat series has been brewing since the depths of 2020-2021, during those surreal pandemic nights. Corn Starch is a nod to that overlooked ingredient in your favorite stir-fries—the subtle but powerful enhancer that deepens flavor without altering the dish’s essence. In this collection, I’ve done the same: layering gritty drums, saturated bass lines, soulful Rhodes keys, and a hint of synth. Each track is drenched in haunting reverb and warm, emulated tape, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and ghostly. This is boom bap stripped back to its essence, with an added dimension that lingers, like a taste that stays with you and keeps you wanting more.
