After setting the tone with “Where Is The Moon?” — the sweeping opener of the “In Orbit” series featuring The Velvet Effect — Joe Ford and Task Horizon return for the second chapter of their collaboration project - ‘In Orbit’. This time, they welcome one of Evolution Chamber’s most exciting additions and the pioneer of the Neurogoth movement, Ekwols, to deliver a track that signals a bold shift in energy: “Sunfall.”

Since joining the label in 2023, Ekwols has quickly become a standout name within the Evolution Chamber roster. Known for his immersive atmospheres, raw emotion, and signature punk-like vocal work, a collaboration with either Joe Ford or Task Horizon was always a matter of time — but bringing all three together makes “Sunfall” feel like a moment.

The track begins with an almost elemental stillness, waking gradually through organic textures and gentle ambience. Ekwols’ vocals creep in with a sense of anticipation, heightening the tension of each 16 bar section before dropping into a kinetic, unfiltered barrage of thunderous drums and snarling reece basses. His vocals remain woven through the chaos, adding an emotional thread to the heaviness below. The intensity is undeniable, but so is the detail — every element throughout the track is engineered to showcase each producer’s individual strengths while serving a shared vision.

“Sunfall” stands in sharp contrast to its predecessor, underlining the adaptability and range of the series. Where “Where Is The Moon?” explored cinematic dynamics and restraint, this instalment is built to shake the foundations. The ghost ship emerged from the fog bank with an unnerving silence, gliding atop the waves despite its tattered mainsails lying slackened and unfilled by the utter lack of wind. Atop its deck shimmered brief silhouettes enshrouded in mist, marked only momentarily by the silvery light of the moon. The vessel’s movement was slow and looked as though it had been scuttled, yet it cut through the waters with a purposeful heading rather than an aimless drift. Somewhere, something unseen guided the craft, captained by a mind with no body, a ship sailing under the flag of no nation.

Though dilapidated and beset by barnacles on all sides with its hull pockmarked by cannonfire, the ship sailed onwards, led by the ornamented and iron wrought ram that marked its prow. Rusted and worn down in the course of countless engagements, the great ram still cleaved through the seas with ease, the evidence of its many conquests now etched into its very form. It was this singular feature that had given the ship its name, a moniker whispered by living sailors in hushed tones for fear of invoking the ghost ship's terrible ire. The HULLBREAKER sailed for but one remaining purpose - to drag other ships beneath the waves to where the bodies of its original crew still lay.

AL/SO makes his EATBRAIN debut with HULLBREAKER, a four-track EP that further features Transforma & Tengu and sees the Dutch artist sail to the fore of the EATBRAIN horde to captain the latest release under the label’s unmistakable banner.

While techno-DnB emerged back in the early 2000s alongside titanic subgenres like neurofunk and techstep, technoid drum and bass was born under far more intricate and subtle circumstances. The rise of the technoid subgenre is directly tied to a particular group of artists and their unique sonic influence during the years 2007 to 2011.

Its peak — the true triumph of technoid — was in 2008, right at the center of this period. That was the golden age of the subgenre we love, when labels like Offkey, Sinuous, and many others were putting out astonishingly heavy releases with utterly mad and unpredictable sound design.
