For the third entry on our mix series, we proudly have one of our closest friends, ManoWarp.

ManoWarp is a techno drum and bass project created by Ricardo Almeida, a producer and musician from Porto who lives in Zurich.

He started out in electronic music in a curious and uncommitted way in the 80s/90s with an Amstrad and Equinoxe as a DAW.

Over the years he started playing electric guitar and bass in garage bands.

His influences include punk, metal, industrial, techno and hardcore/drum and bass.

This project began in 2007 after joining the Pt.Core collective in 2006, and after attending several drum and bass events with friends (one of which was Blast) that undoubtedly had a huge influence on his personal taste and the sounds present in his projects.

After a break from the dnb scene to focus on an electro punk band he has been part of since 2018, the project was recently reactivated and is his main focus at the moment.

TNTKLZ | Darkshire Castle Open Air 2025 (LIVE)

Paperfunk Recordings has always respected — and will continue to respect — the technoid and techno-DnB sound, and we've always strived to contribute as a label to the development of this branch of Drum & Bass.

While techno-DnB emerged back in the early 2000s alongside titanic subgenres like neurofunk and techstep, technoid drum and bass was born under far more intricate and subtle circumstances. The rise of the technoid subgenre is directly tied to a particular group of artists and their unique sonic influence during the years 2007 to 2011.

Its peak — the true triumph of technoid — was in 2008, right at the center of this period. That was the golden age of the subgenre we love, when labels like Offkey, Sinuous, and many others were putting out astonishingly heavy releases with utterly mad and unpredictable sound design.

We’re bringing that tradition back. We’re reviving the raw power and chaos of technoid and techno-DnB — and with great pride, we present to you our new compilation: TECHNOID: GREATEST COMEBACK VOL. 1

This series will feature works by artists who embody the very essence of why these subgenres continue to captivate us. The scent of kerosene, automatic hydraulics, power machines, mechanical undertones, and metal slams in place of drums — this is what awaits you when you press play on TECHNOID: GREATEST COMEBACK VOL. 1.

The release of the "We Salute You EP" (in memory of Redirect) is scheduled for Feb 22nd 2020 (10th anniversary of Perkussiv). In order to start the promotion and the attention-seeking we are giving out Redirect's remix on "Unseen" by The Sect (EP released in Dec 2016) for free. Plus this is maybe the last official release by The Sect.
Perkussiv wants to deeply thank Rafal for his contribution to the label. He was a unique artist, with an individual style. May his soul rest in peace and may God protect him and his family.

Thanks to everyone who supports us since day one. We all know that Techno-DnB is the best genre ever. Fuck the fame. Fuck the mainstream. Perkussiv is and will be alive forever.

PAPERFUNK RECORDINGS – is a dark drum&bass label which sound will be based on the hard and metallic techstep and neurofunk sound. There’s no place for popular sound. The label’s main goal is to flood cities and towns with the special mixtures containing nano-robots that supposed to get inside people’s brains and plunge them down in the deepest adolescent memories and show them the unrealized future.
