For Jesse Somfay music has always been about communicating and sharing immense feelings which he finds impossible to convey in any other way. His Borealis alias was born as a twinned satellite to his work under his birth name. Much like conjoined twins, the two share the same heart and breathe with the same lungs, and even though they speak of similar things, they do it from two different vantage points. According to Jesse, it is better for something to be felt in whole than to be defined and reflected upon in approximation, and this album - his sixth to date and second under the Borealis handle - is a truly wholesome, boundless, gorgeous emotional experience on both the end of its creator and its listener. 

Glittervoice is Somfay's most energetically intense work to date. It is both euphoric and dysphoric and the music itself cannot be pigeonholed into any particular genre - hints of techno, oldschool trance or rave complement each other just to ultimately get lost in an artfully crafted trademark sound. It’s easy to allow this multifaceted, hyperlayered, continuously shapeshifting aural multiverse to deprive you of any form of reason, activate all senses and carry you where no music has before, regardless of where you listen to it. Glittervoice’s 16 tracks encompass everything from visceral warehouse techno to stylish ambient compositions via rapid hypnotic drum loops and trance synths of cosmic proportions, all filtered through his unique etherial aesthetic. 

Having something equally introspective and weighty yet exceptionally club-friendly is a rare feat that could soundtrack any modern techno mecca - be it a big dark room or an open air festival. 
The emergence of Borealis meant an unexpected turn for Somfay, but at the end of the day, much like its worthy genre-defying predecessor, Glittervoice is yet another album not of this reality - a sonic guide to entering “the flow”.

"Opscope" is Alex Frolov's third album in 14 months under the Trampique guise and it only goes to show that putting the Volor Flex alias at rest (at least for a while) changes nothing in how incredibly prolific this multi-faceted artist really is.

The solar system-themed collection of tracks leaves its concept to be discovered in the music, as always. Each of the ten tracks channels emotions and states of mind that render genre names obsolete, making this journey through planets a legitimate exploration of an incredible spirit's universe.

Music isnʼt a drug? Try explaining that to all the fans fiending for Lorn & Dolorʼs latest collaborative effort.

'DRUGS' may represent different landmarks in the producerʼs careers, but the approach to the project was the same: from their trove of unreleased material, only tracks with a certain spirit of impurity should be chosen.

By no means is this a finessed or seamless mix. It was never intended to be. More akin to a warped cassette you fished out of a gutter somewhere, 'DRUGS' is a rough compilation of raw, uncut beats intertwined with obscure, sidetracking conversation samples from two musicians and longtime friends who havenʼt forgotten their roots, or how to play off one anotherʼs leads.

For some, Lornʼs chilling 2010 debut on Brainfeeder came out of nowhere. To the scratch beat scene, and his massive underground following, 'Nothing Else' was an overdue breath of life not felt since the soul-wrenching melodies and punishing drums first heard in 'Grief Machine', Lornʼs first official release from 2007.

Following three pressings of 'Nothing Else', numerous syncs in video games and broadcasts, and a verifiable avalanche of live performances worldwide, Lornʼs inked a deal with London-based record label Ninja Tune, and is undoubtedly sharpening his knives in preparation for 'Ask The Dust' - his highly-anticipated full-length due out in 2012.

Next is the eerie appearance of Dolor, whose prominent beats from the ether-world can only be described as the long and painful calm before a storm. His style is punchy, angular, loud and quiet all at once. Formal release credits include 'A Chapel for Velvet' EP, and 'Reshaped Escape' – a limited-edition split on independent record label Wednesday Sound with fellow musician & labelmate, adoptahighway.

Dolorʼs evocative re-imaginings of The Morning and Gone' by R&B sensation The Weeknd continues to turn the heads of anyone with an Internet connection—including The Weeknd himself, who showed love for the remixes on his official blog, octobersveryown.

LORN & DOLOR - MY KEYS // BLACK ICE

18 months on from the now legendary DJ mix "The Wave Pool MMXV", Plastician presents the much anticipated follow up mix, this time with an accompanying 29 track album of the tracks included within.

The question asked of the first mix was whether or not a new sound was emerging out of the internet - 18 months on, and countless great productions since, this collection of tracks from some of the Wave movement's key players and new blood seeks to gain approval of the Wave genre's arrival.

Including tracks from Klimeks, Kareful, Skit, Sorsari, Deadcrow, Anubis XIII, Hnrk, Noah B, Brothel and more - it's clear to see that this compilation has called upon some of the scene's most noted producers to stake it's claim. 

Mixed and curated by Plastician whose Rinse FM radio show was the platform for this movement to be brought to the attention of the wider public, as well as his Survey parties in Phonox being the initial club night at which this scene established itself outside of the internet - this album is another statement from the man that this sound is not trying to disappear into obscurity any time soon.
