First up in the mix series is Jander, one half of Paradia.

This time round we're in the studio with Vita D who's bringing us cosmic sounds, balearic jams and hard hitting groovers.

We first met Vita D out in Hanoi where we DJ’d at the super cool and crafty club called Savage run by our good friend Ouissam. Ever since then Max has been running parties with the Club Neptune lot and sharing tunes on his tasty little radio show down at Netil Radio.

[2.04] ONE YEAR OF PARADIA w/ Richard Sen

Our next guest on our mix series is one of Bristol’s finest selectors Chez De Milo. 

@ChezDeMilo has been a long-standing host of the Magic Carpet Ride Noods radio show, as well running the infamous Club Blanco parties. His productions have been turning many heads, releasing on esteemed labels like Futureboogie, Ugly Music and Disco Halal. His reputation as a DJ and producer has gained him slots at some of the worlds most reputable parties including the Meatshack in NYC Downlow at Glastonbury and Love International. 

This mix is a live recording of his set at the first of a series of collaborative events with brothers @viscera under Optick, playing alongside Felix Dickinson and Richard Sen.

[2.05] PARADIA w/ Chez de Milo

And we’re back…

This time with a mix from the blog fanatic and artful selector James Tristan.

This hypnotic mix brings together a spectrum of 90s prog house and italo, carving out a new rave-oriented side to the paradia series. This is one to get lost in ⚫️ 

It’s a fully vinyl mix, so if you’re a fan of rare wax, this one’s for you.

We also had the chance to grab James for a quick word, chatting about the music he loves to play and the parties he runs in Nottingham.
                                            
Thanks for recording us the mix. How did you go about it?

I play new and old music. Sometimes I will combine both types in mixes / DJ sets, other times I will stick with one style. For your mix I selected all older records. I had about 20-25 and played around with them over a couple of days and then narrowed it down to 14 to eventually record the hour mix.

Are you vinyl only?

No, I’m not. Obviously, I have the Instagram record blog. People associate me with that but I’ve got a pair CDJs and use them as much as the turntables. It’s good to have the best of both worlds.

I know you had sometime away from the scene, when did you start DJing again?

I started to play out again last year and I’ve had some really good gigs. Highlights have included Berlin, Rythmical Sounds at The Glove That Fits and Froot in Stoke on Trent. Before that I used to play small underground London parties and friends nights.

What's your history with clubbing in London.

I first went to Trade at Turnmills when I was 17. Favourite clubs over the years have included The End, The Cross, Fabric, T Bar & Plastic People. The latter actually has a similar feel to The Glove That Fits. I know you had your recent party there. It's such a great venue. Brilliant sound with varied programming whilst also supporting local nights and DJs.

You live in Nottingham, what’s the scene like there?

I’ve lived here for 15 years. Before that I actually used to come clubbing here regularly to Tyrant / DIY nights at The Bomb and also Renaissance.

Nottingham is still pretty decent. You’ve got Wigflex plus newer parties including Club Fruit, Bloom and How Did It Get So Late. Theres also a huge D&B scene.

Tell us a bit about your new party?

ELECTRGOUND launches on the 14th October at Eleven. The first one is a Free party and we’ve got Loz Goddard, Eileen and Club Fruit’s Brad Bradley. There's no real concept, it's just going to be about putting on quality parties with the best DJs. For the second party in December at Below Bricks we actually have one of your recent guests coming up, but I can’t reveal who that is just yet.

Very excited to have our friend Esther join the paradia mix series

Esther’s been making musical waves for sometime now as a resident at the beloved @teak_music in Cardiff, as well as holding down a @noodsradio residency in Bristol and releasing a very exciting EP next year - head over to our insta link tree to check it out 🌳

Esther’s also cofounder of @paradisegardencdf (alongside @david_j_bull ) which is well worth a visit for the hi-fi, cosy hurt outback, and great music heads community - exactly the sort of place we need more of

The mix is a great example of Esther’s sound - a blend of lovely intricate tunes that also pack a punch and get a dancefloor going. Make sure you lock in for the full journey ⚫️

Next up, we welcome Ginny to the Paradia mix series! 

Bristol based selector Ginny is becoming increasingly proponent in the city’s scene. Ginny’s ‘Angel Hrs’ Noods residency demonstrates her knack for picking out unearthed gems and psychedelic textures, capturing our attention at Paradia HQ 

She is often billed at Paradise Garden listening bar in Cardiff, as well as playing alongside Bristol legends Placid and Owain K at the infamous We’re Going Deep party in 2023. We’re excited to see what the next year will hold…

Elfenberg aka Viktor has had our attention for a long time now so we’re super excited to welcome him to the Paradia series. Having tried his hand at many a dance music genre by now, Elfenberg never disappoints. From cosmic chug to prog that’ll take you back to the 90s, Viktor has it all...

This is a mix that explores new depths to Viktor’s sound, aptly timed to celebrate the recent EP ‘Without Further A Dude’ which was released in April on Jennifer Carfini‘s Correspondants Records

[3.03] PARADIA w/ Elfenberg

Excited to be finally sharing a live recording of @arianev from the most recent @Optick_dance party with our @Visceramusic compadres. Going strength to strength in London's music scene, this mix is an example of what Ariane V does best, connecting the dots between balaeric cuts, glistening house, chug and italo. Her Balamii residency has seen guest appearances from the likes of Secretsundaze, Moxie and Hardway Bros (Sean Johnson). Her growing reputation as a broadcaster and DJ has gained international attention, recently warming up for Berghain resident Roi Perez at @PlanetGroove, Belgium. 

Here's a few words from Ariane V herself ...

"Sometimes you play a set and wish it had been recorded, and this was one of those times - but it actually *was* recorded. I've never released a recording of a live set before, and I'm so glad this gets to be the first. The Viscera/Paradia guys who played before me on the night played a great opening set ending around 100 bpm, which gave me all the freedom to do whatever I wanted with my slot. Going from chug, to balearic, to acid, slowly bringing it up to house tempos. Exactly the kind of set I love playing. A definite highlight for me was a group of guys shazaming Gazza's Fog on the Tyne. Thank you for having me and for recording the set and putting it out there for everyone to hear ❤️''

[3.04] PARADIA w/ Ariane V

This July, we have London based duo, @the-oblong joining our Paradia mix series

We’ve had our eyes on these guys for some time now, first spotting their YouTube channel over a year ago - if you haven’t checked out the 1.7k+ channel, it’s a goldmine of unearthed gems including deep house cuts, breaks, classic prog and trance records. It showcases the depth of The Oblong’s library, already calving out a distinguishable diggers sound of their own

Their impressive 3 hour vinyl mix skyrise session also caught our attention - worth a watch if you haven't yet. As well as this, the duo have recently kicked off a new series of intimate grassroots parties ‘Splitloop’ held in secret locations across London, alongside the likes of Roo,@rachaelfinch (rhythm section).

This mix demonstrates the breadth of The Oblong’s selections, taking you on a journey of your own ⭕️ looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for these two in the future 🖤

With a soundscape as eclectic as it is bass-heavy, it’s no wonder Cowper comes from the counter-cultural hub of Bristol, the UK city known for stretching the limits of sound, where he runs the Between Stations party and a monthly show on Noods Radio ✖️

It was hard to see what was really there, lurking between the shadows. The darkness tended to conceal a world of mystery and haunting truths – invisible forces which danced between the black.

Wandering amongst the trees, they would occasionally catch a glance or a glimmer of a face or a memory lost to the wooded place. It would never stick around for long…

The night was eerie and still, the branches shrouded this part of the world in secrecy and whimsy.

The invisible forces lived here, all of them.

David J Bull features on Volume One of a new compilation series from Paradia – this track caught our ear, a lumbering groove with ominous undertones.

Burning the midnight soil, Wormbox is the amalgamation of two new age cats — Break Mode and Cole Baby whose collaboration results in something really far out. With mixes for Electric Shapes and Gop Tun, and a growing list of productions popping up on labels around the world, these two worms demonstrate a special pairing which is anything but grounded. Their jams are uniquely sewn together by combining each of their distinct production styles, creating a truly singular sound. Pulling from all sides of their electronic and dance music predecessors, the outcome is just as delightful as it is unexpected.

Afterlife is a perfect example how Wormbox have woven their tapestry of production together with off kilter breakbeat rhythms, tasteful melody synth and 303 lines, with a sprinkling of effects and samples throughout.

we’re back… first mix of the year lands from the one and only @connorlyne, and it’s an absolute beauty!

a key figure in the Plymouth scene for over a decade, Connor’s roots run deep - from holding it down at the legendary Vivify parties to gracing stages at Knee Deep, Virgo and Boardmasters. He is set for the bill of @motivesfestival, a new grassroots festival this May. 

over the past year, Connor has launched @hotel-evada, a standout new series of intimate parties that have made a real impact on Plymouth’s underground scene - celebrated for their atmosphere, curation, and attention to detail.

this mix, is a 2-hour vinyl only live recording from the most recent Hotel Evada party warming up for Haime. It’s a masterclass, being equal parts hypnotic and euphoric, weaving seemless between balaeric, acid and chuggy tones

[4.01] PARADIA w/ Connor Lyne

Next up on the Paradia Mix Series – we’ve got a killer set from Antariksh Daddy aka Anandit Sachdev 👽

Jander connected with Anandit after moving to Delhi and since then they’ve played several nights together sharing plenty of tunes and had a lot of fun getting stuck into the local scene

Anandit runs Antariksh Records, spins a great vinyl set, and has a serious ear for weird and wonderful dance music – whether it’s house, electro, funk or stuff that doesn’t really fit in a box. He’s played many spots from magnetic fields and delhi boilerroom to low-key gems in Jakarta and Surabaya. He’s one of the real movers and shakers in the Delhi scene – someone who puts in the graft, builds community, and keeps things moving with real energy and care

The mix is a proper trip through his crates – records only for this one with dusty grooves, wonky rhythms and loose energy 💿
