As the pandemic forced us to hide in our caves for the past year under threat of a deadly virus, I like many of you was forced out of all that I knew. Every aspect of the career that I have built for myself over the last 15 years relied on mass gatherings. I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say that the toll on my mental health was severe. But as time goes on we adapt, and so too do we learn about ourselves in the darkest of places, and grow in ways that while painful at the moment will help us to be more resilient, and grateful for better days to come. Through these challenges, we are also able to seek out new ways of finding joy in the world. New ways to connect with each other. New ways to create magic that we might bring to the world in ways we didn't know we were capable of. As I release this gift to the world nearly half a year later than usual due to my mental health and overload from life's challenges making me procrastinate on making the artwork, I am looking forward to creating more soon for the first time in a while, and being able to share some of my love for music in front of real people on the open fields as the world begins to finally open up. All my love, and I hope you enjoy these mixes as much as I have for the past half-year <3

Two years into a pandemic is more than enough for even the strongest among us to break down. Inadequate support from governments. Unchecked algorithms pushing many of our loving and compassionate community down misinformation pipelines of fear, mistrust, and hyper-individualism aligning them with white supremacists and other extremists. Losing friends and family to stark differences in ideology, death, or just plain dangerous levels of ignorance. It's enough to make you want to give up. I wanted to. At one point in an autistic meltdown, I was literally kicking and screaming at the top of my lungs at 6am that I wanted to die after yet another night of watching a love of my life scream in agony for hours on end because her body can't hold itself together and the medical system mismanaged her. I couldn't take any more of the unbelievable selfishness, stupidity, and arrogance of humans who prioritize their inconveniences over the well-being of vulnerable people, the planet, and even themselves while I'm working 24/7 to bring a woman I love back to health for 2 years.

I am privileged to be held in those spaces by two partners who support me and bring me back to a sense of safety when I feel lost and I do my best every day to bring what joy I can to the world and create changes where I can. This is all we can do. We have to support each other as best we can, but fighting to find peace and safety in the death throes of capitalist colonialism is exhausting. Some days are better than others and we need to hold on to all that glitters to manifest the future that we deserve. The world is super hard right now, but we can make it better if we work together towards positive solutions.

This mix series follows my journey to the depths of my despair. A path from grief and hopelessness to understanding and renewed empowerment. When we fall we peer deeply into the intricacies of the world's failings, but bouncing back from that perspective makes us stronger, wiser, and more capable to challenge them. The lessons we learn from our darkest places give us the tools to burst out of our comfort zones and make the changes to our inner and outer worlds that we didn't know we needed. 

Disc 1, Down:
Raw, emotional, and unexpected journeys through cascading feelings of trying our best and watching as things continue to get worse. All the while desperately grasping at hope, taking deliberate steps to create the fortitude to cultivate acceptance, and utilizing moments of peace to propagate the resolve to move forward. My hope is that listening to this mix will help you release the emotions you've held onto, crying the tears that needed to be released as I did while making it, and inspiring you to move that energy into a place of power and growth to create new beginnings.

Disc 2, Out:
This mix is about showing up. Showing up for yourself, your loved ones, your community, and the world. Take a small step towards the light at the end of the tunnel any chance you get and know that every time you work towards a brighter future it gets closer to you. Not just for you, but for the people around you who are inspired by your light and more that will gravitate towards that energy. Fight for what you believe in, even if it means you have to fight people you love. The world will only be free of bad ideas when good ones drown them out and make more sense. Genius does not exist without the wisdom to use it. And you will only know your genius when you push yourself out of your comfort zones. So just keep pushing. You will break through your walls more and more with each passing day if you make just one small step. That's all it takes. It doesn't have to be a lot. Just show up. Do one tiny thing and see where it takes you. It may not always go anywhere, but you'll be surprised how often it does. Eventually, you'll get there. It's just science <3

It's that time again and as I find myself doing an Eclectronica writeup for the 13th year I think of how lucky I am to have discovered a passion for chill and beautiful music to carry me through my days and help so many more do the same. As I think about my lucky number I am reminded that though the number 13 was considered lucky in so many cultures in the past, colonialism has re-written its significance as it has with so many powerful symbols in so many cultures throughout history. While I thought about how I was going to put together this set and what kind of vibe it would need in order to do justice to such a powerful number I thought about the perceptions of good and bad and how so many concepts of right and wrong are often skewed by societal conditioning and even changing from minute to minute within our own minds. I thought about the struggles I have personally had to endure over the last three years and the ways I had to grow as I fought to follow the path of righteousness while my own inner turmoil fed me fear, resentment, and existential dread through the lens of my subconscious biases and the very real conscious harsh reality that my loved ones and I lived through.

And with that, I present to you Eclectronica Vol. 13 - Angels & Demons. I hope they inspire you to reconcile the light and dark parts of your inner world and recognize that without witnessing and giving space to both, one cannot be truly free to accept themselves for the challenges that make us who we are.

Disc 2, Demons:
Next-generation sound designs and new musical genres give a louder and more bass-heavy journey into the shadows where we wrestle to meet our demons where they are on the path to understanding and creating the peace within that is necessary to grow from our traumas rather than being bound by them.

Not matter what instrument you play, or whether you play one at all, you can record or create any sound you can imagine, create a rhythm and a melody and harmonize it with anything else your heart desires.

A heavier, bass fuelled, and driving experience through a wide array of cutting edge sound design that'll make you laugh, play, and shake your body.

Eclectronica Vol 14 - Rock

Due top my struggles with late stage capitalism I am later than ever to release this years duo of mixes and yet, I find myself releasing this at the perfect time.

This years's Eclectronica is volume 15 - One & Only, and I don't think there's been a more important moment to reflect on this theme.

We have one life, one planet, one voice, and one chance. This is the moment where we need to set aside all of our differences, disputes, past traumas and grievances and stand together for the final time against the rise of fascism. It's here in our face more obvious than it has ever been and even the most extreme victims of the propaganda machine are starting to wake up and see reality for what it is.

Authoritarianism is an unsustainable model of rule that governs with fear and never seems to learn the lesson that love always wins. Fear tries to bully what it doesn't understand into submission.

But you cannot bully love. Love is passion. When they use fear to back the world into a corner like a scared cat it is love that compels us to strike.

To rebel.

To live.

Love is bravery in the face of evil. Love is violent when necessary. Love stands up to fear until shrinks and cowers as it shivers away into the darkness.

If you love yourself, your tribe, and your planet then you must fight to protect it. Because the billionaires are not playing fair and it is time to get real. The pace of progress is accelerating and we are decades from either a permanent dystopia or a permanent utopia. Which one will you choose? I choose love. And I will do anything, and I mean anything, to protect it.

Stand up and fight. This is your one and only chance.

Disc 1 - Rock:
Vocals, vocals, and more vocals across a range of genres from pop and house to trap and chill dub. Sing your heart out and let go of the emotions in your body.

Disc 2 - Roll:
Bombastic beauty. Alluring bass for the human race. Probably the heaviest part 2 in the series yet and for good reason. This one is to fire your heart and give you the energy to take any action necessary to make this world a better place.

Here we are, locked in another moment in time trying to find meaning in the endless series of nows. As we look back and try to dissect every twist and turn in a reflection of a past that may not even exist we often forget that the only important moment in your life, the only moment that matters, is now. As stars are born and give rise to planets and great civilizations, so too are they consumed into nothingness only to continue their existence as an ultimate something which we cannot comprehend. So too with your life will you rise above and sometimes fall apart. So take every moment to enjoy what you are doing and live for today as it really is all you have <3

Disc 1, Rise:
A beautiful collection of more organic and old school styles of chill music to carry you into memory and beyond. These spiritual and uplifting creations will lift your soul to a place suitable to see the universe from a better perspective. Rise and gaze upon the beauty that surrounds us.

Disc 2, Fall:
Absolutely all over the place with bleeding edge genres that defy classification while keeping the journey intact. Let these loving and energetic sounds cradle you into the abyss as you sink deeper into beauty. Don't be afraid of the fall, for it is here you will truly find yourself.

Once again another year has past and if there is anything I have learned it is that, like the seasons come and go, so too does everything else. People. Love. Inspiration. When we stop believing that everything in life is permanent and let go of the idea that good things should stay that way forever we can begin to look forward to not just the ups, but also the downs, for these guide us to new beginnings, new experiences and new challenges. Life is about the journey after all. Finding inspiration in something or someone shouldn't make us feel like we should stop there. If we find something we like and refuse to let go when it no longer serves us we can miss what wonders lie ahead, blinded by false ideas of what "should be." So when we find ourselves feeling as if the world isn't providing us with what we want, it might be providing us with an opportunity to reflect, to grow and to look ahead while we gather our energy to let loose on our next inspirations.

Disc 1, Ebb:
An endlessly soulful collection of vocally driven chill music to take you inward to the most emotional resonations of your core being. Organic and acoustically charged, these sensual, jazzy and extra smooth gems have started to boil over for the last few years which has given me the opportunity to create something that slowly surfs waves of emotion from start to finish. Don't let the slow and steady nature of these treasures fool you. There is power in these waters.

Disc 2, Fall:
After reflecting inward, Flow instead takes us to discover a world of new sonic experiences while maintaining the fluidity of the first. Genres undiscovered and sounds unclassifiable weaving a tapestry of liquid chill adventures for the soul.

Sometimes life's greatest gifts can also bring us lasting sorrow when we hold too strongly to our expectations. As I sit here writing about a pair of mixes that were finished nearly half a year ago now that were held up by my own inability to get my head space together to finish something as simple as a couple of graphics, I can't help but feel like I've somehow let myself down. Graphics being what very shortly before was a full time job that I quit for the sole purpose of working on my own personal art and yet here I sit having accomplished very little. It's times like these where we must remind ourselves that life gives us no expectations, and the only reason we feel like we have failed is because we gave one to ourself and became attached to it. Life is a swirling, colourful, and unpredictable phantasmagoria of energy that we are just trying to understand. If we let go we can find ourselves powerfully swept away into new and exciting places, and as we get farther downstream on our new path it can become scary when we think of all the things that we left ashore before we jumped in. And there's the crux of it. If you are still looking back to the shore, did you really let go?

Sure, there are going to be times when you are going to wish you did this or that, but what DID you do? Did you stop working hard on something you wanted to accomplish, and instead binge watched a show on Netflix for 2 weeks straight? Did you need it? Did you enjoy it? Maybe you moved on to some other projects unconsciously deciding you had more interest in them. In my case the opposite. I retired a career to work on my dreams and instead went head first into a gruelling learning process to develop a new form of abundance. Regrets? Well, if I said never I'd be lying, but the more I reflect on what I have accomplished the more I turn those regrets into positive lessons. Accomplishing what we set out to do does feel good, and it's important to create systems where we can accomplish our goals, but it's also important to realize that sometimes we stop caring about those goals because we grow as a person and choose other priorities. Life is full of wonders and we could never experience them all so why limit yourself to an expectation to fill a box you opened years ago and got bored of? Or last month, or week, or yesterday, or five minutes ago? Life has plenty more boxes to open, and as long as you are enjoying yourself... make a fucking box fortress! When next you open one that fills you with inspiration, you'll know just what to do, but until then, why not do it all? People struggle too often to find their purpose, the meaning of life as it were, but why can't the meaning of life be to live?

A coin carries the same worth regardless of which side lands if you haven't become attached to the outcome. So here's to the ups, and downs. The accomplishments, and the withdrawals. To victory, and sweet surrender. As Above, So Below.
