Debut release of hi-res, bare bones hardware techno from Melbourne-based synthesis explorer Nina Buchanan. Parallel to creating woozy extended synth pop jams in duo Video Ezy (Paradise Daily) as well as pushing dynamic textural noise forms into unique shapes in UTI (duo with Maya Kjellstrand of Bleach Boys, Leopard Leg), Buchanan has arrived at a precision nexus of brutalist techno and a truly uplifting style of ecstatic melodic synth riffage. Conjuring thick atmospheres and tonalities with almost blu-ray levels of vibrancy is perhaps in essence attributable to the simplicity of her chosen elements; 1 synth, 1 drum machine - the rest is purely incendiary sparks, resonating brightly in the spaces in between. For fans of Helena Hauff, Regis, Nitzer Ebb.

NKDX 'MASH DOWN ROME' - The first single from their debut cassette release 'Rome' out now on Paradise Daily. PDR-040.

Together as NKDX, Nick Kuceli and Daniel Stewart are impressing upon the world the occulted artefacts of the collaborative pact they've arrived at behind closed doors. With a vulturous gait and a pillow talker's touch, it's a tense dream that's being communicated.

Gristly electronics deftly tease and structure the pharmaceutical noir being peddled on this, their debut release, Rome. Punctuated by field recordings and cooked and screwed tape manipulation, Kuceli's solo work as Gaud can be sensed in the foundations here. Paired with the attitudes of time-worn mania—which may be familiar from the wry technics of Stewart's raptured grimaces for Total Control—the haze of NKDX starts to condense and peak, finding a unique foothold. And all the while conspicuous fragments of frayed pop snag bluntly on the interior of their cosmos, letting out the air, letting in the catastrophe—or does that go the other way around?
