MARIMBA is the first single leading up to EC Twins first EP together with African Indie Label Paradise Sound System "TULUM CHANT", in which they express the inspiration and influences they got living in South Africa. The Twins now want to put as much influence & reach as they may have behind a movement of getting Africa that will hopefully set the focus on world leading African artists and labels and help the African music rise. Building Bridges from LA to South Africa back to back.

We were exposed to so much unique music, just by walking around the streets and towns, there would be street performers who were incredible. We'd discuss between ourselves how great it would be to be able to get these street artists into a studio and how frustrating it was that such talented artists may go undiscovered. At the time we had neither the money, nor the connections to make this happen, But we made a vow to take all the inspiration we could from our experience and hopefully use it to introduce the global music scene to another culture that we'd been exposed to. Once we created these two songs, we searched to find an African Label to work with in order to hopefully help build a bridge for African artists, labels and the entire African Music industry to build upon. We hope that undiscovered talents may stand a better chance of being exposed to the world and that we may benefit from the culture that inspired us so much. It's an exciting time, especially in the USA, in which African Music is really starting to impact popular culture & we want to support the impressive growth that it has made in recent years. Living in an influential City, such as LA, we hope to expedite that growth. Being a part of such a movement would be an absolute honor for us would feel like a suitable way for us to pay back the inspiration that our time living in Africa gifted us with, that helped create these two releases.

Following a hiatus, Bristol-based Ryan Artifact, fka Artifact, has reunited with Anja Schneider to put out the Let It Go EP, a storming new release on Sous Music. 
 
The title track is a big-room weapon of the highest order. A thick, rich bassline forms the backbone of the track, in which all elements are polished to a hi-shine. The repeated vocal snatch is subtle but hypnotic, the drums are delicate but purposeful, and gentle synth flourishes provide just the right amount of intrigue. 
 
“The Way It Did” is just as impressive, with another whomping bassline doing the heavy lifting. Playing like a sister track to “Let It Go”, it features a similar vocal grab and tight, considered arrangements, but picks up the pace and adds a peppy build. The resulting track is a surefire weapon at night and day parties alike, guaranteed to get the dancefloor rocking. 
 
“Believe Nothing” completes this family of tracks, with all three complementing each other. Built around a rocking beat, lively chords, tetchy choral synths and the same detached vocal, this one, primed for warmup or cool-down duties, is made to keep the party simmering. 
 
Ryan’s relationship with Schneider began in 2017, when he was putting out equally killer tunes on her back-then Mobilee label. The Let It Go EP follows the inclusion of Ryan’s track “However Far Forward” on a Sous compilation last year and sees him in the same fine form we’ve come to expect from him.

At Well is the teaser single for All Is Well’s upcoming debut album “A Break In Time”. (out: 24/11/2023)

Inspired by Carl Craig’s At Les, hence the title At Well, the track draws influence not only from Carl Craig’s early albums (More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art and Landcruising), but also the early 90s Warp sound (e.g. the Artificial Intelligence compilations). It’s definitely a nostalgia piece. The original album version is accompanied by the two DJ-friendly Night Versions for the clubs and features live strings arrangement played by Pete Whitfield. This was a highlight moment during All Is Well’s live performance of the album at Mutek festival in 2021.

A Break In Time

A Break In Time is an ambient album written during the lockdown as a sort of calming therapy / meditation exercise. The project quickly took form with a unique sonic identity and message inspired by this feeling isolation felt during that time. The album is about fragility, naivety, contemplating our vulnerability but also of our resilience and the feeling of alone/together.

This album might have taken less than a year to make, but it’s a culmination of influences drawing back to his early 90s growing up in Québec City. He was then known simply as Everything, performing live in Raves and Chill Out Room, armed with nothing but a 909, an SH-101 an Ensoniq EPS and a Quadraverb. His love for ambient music never faded. With early influences such as Carl Craig seminal “Landcruising”, Warp’s “Artificial Intelligence” and Black Dog Production “Bytes”, this album bridges the gap between here and there, now and then : where time stands still.
This is a collaborative release from Compost Records and Drumpoet Community.
