Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. a music maker with too much sincerity and a passion for sampling, film, and leftist politics

Q. What drew you to the music scene in the beginning and where do you hope to see it in the future?
A. Looking back at my life, I think everything from my birth led me on this path towards music. It was my first love. But as an only child, my experience with music growing up was always very solitary. I yearned to be part of a community radio station with Iikeminded music nerds, and it was working for a radio station eventually during my undergraduate that brought me toward DJing and rave culture. Back then I never thought I could do this full time, but once I got the chance to make a living doing this, I realized the scene was far from perfect, in fact it's very exploitative. I hope in the future we can find a way to fairly compensate music makers for the incredible gift of music they bestow upon the world, without becoming beholden to corrupt corporate & military interests. Artists can be hyper individualistic and self-interested, and I hope we can get better at looking out for each other instead of just our own paycheques.

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. I wanted to present a different side of myself to international audiences on such a wonderful mix platform. Perhaps people outside of my home city of Toronto are less familiar with my downtempo sets, but it's been a significant part of my wheelhouse for years, and have gained even wider affection from me since I started doing a downtempo party in Toronto last year. Like I always say, 80-100bpm is the most natural tempo for extended human body movements. I also liked the idea of doing a mix that doesn't build in a predictable way, instead it waxes and wanes like the natural rhythm of life. So many of my favourite mixes build and release tension in a way that's very satisfying to listen to, the sounds intensify to a frenzy before disintegrating into nothingness. I wanted to play with that rise and fall and mix downtempo and dub with double time d&b in a non-linear way that is evocative of our most precious memories and tells stories we've only seen in dreams. Downtempo and dub also seemed like the perfect genres to play in the 100th mix for Juanita's, and in the lead up to my fav April holiday. :) I hope the listeners enjoy it.

Our latest SORRYMIX comes via transdisciplinary performance artist, curator, and educator MIRA MIRA (@mirasamira ) 🎶  

Although we only met fairly recently at Honcho Campout, Samira and I are both from the same hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina!! Currently based in Brooklyn, she's also spent a good amount of time in the Pittsburgh underground; co-founding collectives like @dyspheric-x alongside XC-17 (@stephanie-alona-helen) and @yessimusic and Uhaul Disco alongside @johnnyzoloft. Her deejaying is a joy to behold - psychedelic intimacy, passionate + personal, sublimely jacked out improvisational genre-soup flow that I just can't get enough of.

"It was my first time playing at Bossa and I was kinda nervous but also feeling a lot of feelings from the week. I was pulled by cops twice that week, the day before four cops stopped me supposedly for hopping a turnstile, stopped for $2.90... The day of I came in fresh off of a shift at Trans Pecos where I worked a benefit show for Gaza. It featured some powerful performances and a teach-in by DegrowNYC.

Usually, when I'm given opening duties I like to warm things up and keep things a little lighter but I had too much on my heart. I decided that it was more important to speak to what's happening in Gaza, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. I think the mix ended up being a chaotic reflection of what I was feeling. Hopefully it made people reflect with me and wiggle a little bit too."

SORRYMIX29: MIRA MIRA - Live At Bossa Nova Civic Club

LNS no stranger to Trushmix is back in the groove. This time of Trushmix 224. The talented producer and DJ delivers one hour and thirty seven minutes of joy!
This mix is part of a live set at Paloma 30th of March this year.
The mix spans in different genres such as house, techno, electro sounds, dubby techno, tribal house, acid and brain dance, a deep selection for the heads and the groovers on the dance floor.

As LNS stated herself: 
This was taken from a particularly nice Sunday morning after a long club night at Paloma in Berlin. The time when everyone needing intensity have gone home and those left are down to just vibe out. Magic!

In this take over by the label TECNOLOGÍAS ELEMENTALES (Buenos Aires / Berlin), they present a selection of Djs and live acts to introduce their second album.  This encounter took place on a very special day: April 2nd in Argentina commemorates the victims of the Malvinas War, a bloody confrontation between the neoliberal government of Margaret Thatcher and the murderous Argentine dictatorship over British-occupied territory. 
Kiernan Laveaux is a connective rhythmic energy conduit & ecstatic beat conductor from the Great Lakes. A boundless ball of discordant energy, she’s best known for her arcane technical skill, propulsive dancefloor catharsis, & hyper-creative approach behind the decks. The music included here is all-embracing & expansive, but unified by a restless sense of ecstatic momentum, dissonant euphoria, & kinetic exuberance. This channels binary dissolving phenomena throughout our known universe via unbridled musical vitality.
