Monix, the alias of live musician, producer & DJ, Lance Blaise, has over 25 years in the industry. Monix has amassed a staggering catalog of music and original productions recorded under many different monikers/aliases.

Unconcerned with conventional elements of modern techno, Monix's live modular sets embody relentless and pummeling industrial sounds. Focus is spent on developing dense drones and harsh noise walls with distorted vocal elements and heavily distorted kicks which forcefully defy a 4x4 structure.  All of his live sets are improvised “off the cuff” with nothing planned out ahead of time.  Monix believes this allows every live experience to be an individual creation of sound.

A self-confessed ‘tech geek,’ Monix’s productions remain to be composed of all analog gear. His live performances consist of his modular hardware setup, but he is also known for his marathon hybrid DJ sets combining digital controllerism paired with analog gear.

It is fairly well known that Monix is legally blind, but he has still managed to adapt his live sets, productions & DJ techniques to overcome this battle.  He also is very active in providing support and advocacy for other visually impaired artists, and he has assisted in developing software and hardware to make this journey easier for new and veteran visually impaired musicians and DJs.

For the last episode in March, we are happy to host French Techno dj & producer ANGEL KAREL(THE FUTURE IS FEMALE / NO GENDER). 

Artist from the Techno Queer Punk scene, Angel Karel has built her reputation with high-technical dynamic sets with loud aggressive, saturated and emotional techno music.
 
Her dark industrial universe is regularly bringing dancers into a post-apocalyptic hypnotic distorted trance. That’s why Angel Karel is frequently booked for peak-time and closing sets.
 
In 2020, she released her first album « Pain For Pleasure » on Instruments Of Discipline and a collaborative EP « You Ain’t No Punk, You Punk » on RND Records with her partner in crime Istigkeit.
 
As well as playing and producing, she has also created her own collective with mindful art direction :
TFIF Events. A Techno Queer Punk collective which values tolerance and freedom of the underground universe.Together, they offer a strong anticonformist, porn and BDSM experience : [NO GENDER].
 
In 2021, she is launching a new punk concept [SCUM], queer feminist techno punk event, inspired by Valérie Solanas "S.C.U.M Manifesto". In a punk setting, these whip up the queer atmosphere where we sniff the scent of leather, chains and Dr.Martens.. where we dare new aesthetic and radical energies with crazy outfits and hairstyles. Union, symbiose and rebellion will be watchwords.
 
A taste of dark unlimited anarchistic fashion bodies to a mutual state of liberation.

PARADOX PODCAST #146 -- ANGEL KAREL

Greek roots, born in Koblenz and currently living in Augsburg, Germany, Christos found his musical affinity already in his earlier years. When his focus shifted to the electronic genres at some point, he knew that this was where he belongs, as soon after he got hooked on DJing which also involved developing his stylistically signature, allowing him to dive even further into his passion.

For the better part, Christos’ sound is based upon an atmospheric & deep track selection, resulting in quite trippy sets which can pick up quite a serious pace as well. Ambitiously following a “golden thread” in all his performances.

The fact that Italy is home to an almost disconcerting amount of techno heads is no secret. 
Still, we’re having a really hard time explaining the origin of the unprecedented rawness Ayarcana floods the scene with lately, let alone classifying it.
Anthony Arcana is a guy from Italy in love with the strong language of music.
Hard sounds and dark matter have real importance. 
In just a few years Ayarcana has had several collaborations with many underground reality of Europe and his productions was supported by most important names of underground electronic scene.

Grounded podcast number 150 welcomes DJ/Producer Femanyst aka Lady Blacktronika, originally from Northern California but now based in Berlin.

Having first got her start in 1997, Akua Grant began her career by doing vocals for San Jose based DJ, producer and close friend Mattski however it wasn't until 2006 that she began trying her hand at house and techno production.

Under 'Lady Blacktronika' her sound is heavily influenced by the classic elements of old school Chicago & Detroit House music, drawing inspiration from current life experiences and also from her past experiences in the 1990's club scene of The Bay Area, and former hardships of street life in San Jose & Los Angeles. 

However it is under 'Femanyst' that she channels her aggression through a frenetic expression of militant techno individuality with her revered DJ sets pushing a more twisted and unrelenting sound filled with plenty of 90s influenced high octane electronic music.

Having released an EP on Paula Temple’s ‘Noise Manifesto' last year, Femanyst continues to bring her unapologetic sound through her own imprint 'Dark Carousel', with her self-assured approach to gripping and brawling techno bringing a fast paced and fervent flow to the dance floor.
