✈ We are delighted to welcome South Korean dj and producer MARCUS L (Intrepid Skin, Ameniia Records).

Straight from Seoul Marcus L provides a high energy mix that looks to the future and knods to the past. He is a key proponent of the Korean scene, pushing forward the local sound and embodying the culture that comes along with it. 

The work of Marcus L reflects the restless research he did around it, since first falling in love with Seoul's club culture at an early age. His sound ranges from deeper techno, industrial, trance, and 90s classics - one thing is for sure, you will dance. 

His deeply syncopated brand of electronic dance music has evolved with every step of his journey, exploring England and Berlin. Back in Seoul 2014, he founded the label ‘Ameniia’ as well as Kammer Radio & Records. As owner of Faust, one of the key clubs in Asia, he provides a crucial platform for artists worldwide completing the spread of his futuristic vision of dance music on an every level.

PARADOX PODCAST #148 -- MARCUS L

@madalba was born in July 1985 in Bari, south of Italy. From a very young age, her musical interests moved across a broad spectrum, going from house and dance music to rock and punk leading her lastly to techno and club-culture.

At age 22 she approached the local scene as Djane with numerous performances in the club circuit of Bari. Through the years she has developed a continued and careful respect of the musical experience. She moved to Berlin in 2011 started djing with only vinyl records.

This helped her to build a strong reputation as an underground techno DJ, providing opportunity for her to play in clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, SchwuZ, SO36 and Mikz in Berlin where she lives today.

In September 2011, she spent one month in Detroit where she started the collaboration with DJ Seoul, Tom and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia. This travel has definitely and radically changed her approach to the techno concept, which she considers more a political and social phenomenon and a lifestyle than just a musical genre.

Back to Berlin she immediately came into contact with the queer scene, then in full bloom, building a network primarily of interpersonal relationships based on mutual support and collaboration, a network that naturally strengthens over the years, leading her to basically all queer realities of the city and beyond. At the same time she cultivated her main profession as a trauma surgeon in a historically male-dominated environment which strengthens her awareness of her role as a woman in a still strongly male-dominated society.

Thanks to these solid experiences she became resident of the party Homopatik, at the time the flagship of the Berlin queer reality.

Her first releases on vinyl came out in 2014 on DTM-Label (Detroit) and Arkita Records (Berlin), the label that she spawned together with Synkopheit till 2016.

In 2017 she launched her own record label Future D\'e9j\'e0 Vu releasing 5 EP respectively by Transient X4, Ken Karter, Mannella a.k.a. DHARAXT, Phontonz & Shcuro, Rage Therapy.

In September 2017 she played her first house set for the summer closing of the Berlin party Buttons.

In Summer 2018 Madalba became resident dj at the historical club Tresor in Berlin. The same year she collaborated with the London based crew Aria with a party series in the UK capital.

Currently she is techno resident dj and co-organizer of the party Buttons in About teaming with Danilo Rosato, Anna Bolena, Jabob Meehan, Shingo Suwa, Akirahawks and Paolo Di Nola.

Over the years, his awareness of the communicative power of his role as a DJ not an end in itself but always aimed at creating a network based on the basic values of absolute respect for all forms of diversity, has been strengthened to the point carrier of all her artistic and interpersonal expressions.

The mix is a blend of new things I've made, and artists that caught my attention. Some things I was listening to in pandemic times and a few things that are very dear to me. I chose to depart from techno halfway through the mix and I got to play some music I don't usually get to play, that inspires me almost endlessly. I wanted to play with the way I mixed it and I chose to use a computer, purists be warned. But this way I can do all kinds of interesting spectral manipulation, I hope to explore this more in the future, as I felt like I only scratched the surface.

Alex Wilcox is an American artist, DJ and electronic music produer, currently based in Berlin. Deep down the rabbit hole you’ll find Alex Wilcox in a hurry - cutting, copy-pasting, texturing, manipulating, saturating… relentlessly
improvising. Fast-paced & multifaceted, this Mad Glitcher is an eclectic
player - switching genres and BPMs fastert han ever - typically playing only his own music. Through chop-chop sounds, Alex Wilcox gives life to nonsense wonders and unreal musical scenaries: welcome to oddball juke-techno without boundaries. What a maze! Infatuated with 90’s rock music, young Alex Wilcox spent countless days copying John Frusciante’s guitar playing and
listening to Smashing Pumpkins and the Butthole Surfers. He later dove into
electronic music through Modeselektor, Thom Yorke, Radiohead, Portishead and
AIR. During college, he visited Berlin, where his nascent interest in techno took
a leap forward - he was particularly interested in its relation to funk music. Other big inspirations are Paul Kalkbrenner and Kanye West. Excessively curious about music, Alex Wilcox is a self-taught technician, nonstop honing his production skills. On his Youtube channel, he also dissects numerous powerful tracks to understand their constructions. From Austin to LA then Detroit, Alex used to work at Chalice and Orb Studios where he was able to see the inner workings of pop, k-pop, rap, and rock music production. In Detroit, Alex got his hands dirty playing some gigs, and spent time with Mike Banks at the Underground Resistance HQ Submerge- as he went deeper into focusing on club
music. Alex moved last year to Berlin, in search of the epicenter of techno and
electronic music, hungry for more. Recently, Alex Wilcox dropped one iconic
release on Mama told ya « It’s okay to cry » and will drop some more near the end of the year. He played at RSO (Berlin), Pal (Hamburg), Mess (Paris), Le Sucre (Lyon), La Belle Électrique (Grenoble), Geheimclub (Magdeburg), Underground events with BLDG01 (Detroit) and more.

✈ We are delighted to welcome Moroccan dj and producer B SHADE (Sotor Records).

B Shade fell in love with electronic music at a young age, and started experimenting with sound design and electronic music production at the age of 14, after finishing school and getting an engineering diploma in 1999, he put his passion for music on hold to pursue a career in business and technical consulting.

In 2022, he embraced his love for techno music and Detroit techno style, and changed his artist name to B Shade to reflect this new direction.
B Shade's commitment to electronic music extends beyond his own productions.

With his talent and dedication, he has become a respected figure in the electronic music scene, and is poised to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

✈ We are delighted to welcome, for the second time after 7 years, French producer MOTEKA [Skryptöm]

After collaborating for ten years with his friend Rémy Maurin under the project name Principles of Flight, then Pierre Delort & Rémy Maurin, the French producer Pierre Delort starts Moteka in 2013 in Marseille. Where Principles of Flight was a mix of psytrance, techno
rhythms and phantasmagoric cinematographic aesthetic, Moteka veers towards a more minimalistic and restrained approach, inspired by the classics of the English techno scene, such as Surgeon or Planetary Assault Systems.

In April 2024, Moteka will be back on Skryptöm with a new EP : Exploration 07 (Release date: 26 4 2024).

PARADOX PODCAST #157 -- MOTEKA LIVE

✈ To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Berlin Techno scene : INLAND (Counterchange Recordings/Figure).

Known for his explorative techno and ambient productions, he’s released numerous EPs on his home label Counterchange, appeared on Ostgut Ton, Figure, Infrastructure, and released his debut LP on Ostgut Ton sub-label A-TON.

Working closely alongside US artist Function between 2014 and 2017, the pair released the comeback record for Function's Infrastructure label, with their now-legendary 'Odeon / Rhyl' EP and went on to compile the heavyweight 'Facticity' compilation, also teaming up on the soaring 'Colwyn Bay' in 2016. 

In 2020 Inland presented a 4 x 12'' box-set compilation and DJ mix entitled 'Stream State', featuring music from contemporaries like Efdemin, Peter Van Hoesen, Joel Mull, DJ Skull, Mark Broom and many more. This was closely followed by the full-length LP, 'Potential Current' (COUTER016), and 2 acclaimed EPs of up-temp, peak-time tracks in 2022, 'Namsan' and the BRETT offshoot label (BRETT001), igniting some of Davenport's most frenetic work to date.

PARADOX PODCAST #158 -- INLAND

✈ To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Detroit Techno scene : DJ ROLANDO (R3 Roland Rocha Records / Ostgut Ton).

Rolando grew up in south west Detroit, a Hispanic district, he was heavily influenced by his cultural Latin rhythms and percussion. Inspired from an early age by his musician father, he pursued his own interest in music and became well known and respected within the community. It was later when he heard Jeff Mills in 1985 as "The Wizard" that he discovered the innovative sounds of Techno. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to Mike Banks and joined Underground Resistance in 1994. 

In 1999 'Knights of The Jaguar' although not Rolando's first release on UR turned perceptions of Techno on their head, breaking into other genres of dance music and becoming a classic in the boxes of DJs such as Tenaglia, Morillo, Oakenfold, and Gilles Peterson. The track has a long legacy of reworking and lives on fifteen years later inspiring audiences from all genres. 

As of November 2004, Rolando left both Underground Resistance and his Los Hermanos project behind. 

2014 Rolando has launched his own label R3 (Roland Rocha Records) and will exclusively release his own music on his label. 

Rolando now a Dj for almost thirty years continues to work internationally as a Dj and continues to hold a residency at the notorious and enigmatic Berlin club Berghain.

✈ To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to welcome Italian arranger, musician, DJ and producer. : RAFFAELE ATTANASIO (Axis / Mutual Rytm / South Signatures).

In 1987, Raffaele Attanasio was born with music in his blood—thanks to his father, a musician, he began taking piano lessons from an early age.  At the age of 12, he took his first steps in the world of djing, strongly influenced by rap, hip-hop and the g-funk culture. Five years later, he released his first production: a style characterized by the fusion of techno, electronic and classic-contemporary influences.

In 2014, he succeeded in making one of his greatest artist dreams come true: dueting in a Jam live \ b2b with Jeff Mills in Naples, and then went on to play his glorious b2b with Octave One. Lately he has been focusing on himself for the realization of the project called "L'estasi dell'Odio,” intended to be presented in live theatrical performances.  In the meantime, he co-founded "The Sacred Weapons," a band and group of artists, strongly influenced by the ‘70s psychedelic rock and electronic music of the ‘90s.  

Over the course of his career, Attanasio received the support of a large range of appreciated artists in the industry, including Len Faki, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Kirk Degiorgio, Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Oscar Mulero, Dustin Zahn and many others.

Our webzine and events are intended as a bridge between the artists and the audience, as one part barely exist without the other. We work with international artists who share our sense of innovation and openness. 
Based in Marseille, Lille and Casablanca, PARADOX works as a share point between those three scenes and far beyond.
