This is a joint release between Laffin Buddha Recordings and Parallax. After the sudden passing of Stu, one half of The Bridge Project, we decided to not put Palomas on the sequel of the Parazone album forthcoming on Parallax, but give it its own 12" with a brand new tune instead. The new tune is written by Lee Shilton, especially for Stu. All money that the release raises will be going straight to Stu´s family to support them in these difficult times. 

Rest in peace Stu, this one´s you, we hope this makes you smile up there!

PARALAB001 - The Bridge Project - Palomas

Society has collapsed under the control of a brutal dictatorship.  The UK is a military state and all uprisings are suppressed.  Save for the ravers, This World Is Lost…

Completing the ‘World’ trilogy of releases, ‘This World Is Lost EP’ is the eighth release on Codename: RCRDS, the new label from Southampton-based jungle, 160 and atmospheric crew Codename: Amen.  The release and label channel the energy of the 90’s rave era, pushing the sound forward into exciting new directions for 2023. 

The unique Cold Leader returns to the label with the bouncy ‘Universal Rules’, an instant dancefloor classic which has been on heavy rotation at Codename: Amen events for several months now.  Things shift in a darker direction with Code Of Silence’s ‘High Riser’, where driving beats meet eerie pads, stabs and drones for an awesome slice of ’93 influenced darkcore.

Rising talent Worsleyy keeps us firmly in breakbeat hardcore territory with ‘Sandy Rain’, reaching a crescendo at the mid point with atmospheric pads before dropping back into tearing breaks and bell tones.  The EP closes with another fast rising new star of the scene, Arkyn, who contributes the Jungle Techno stomper ‘Lost City’, switching brilliantly between deeper reflective moments and all-out amen assaults.

Void Of Light is the epos here! Dark as the night and a staggering 8 minutes long! What to say about this? It has horror samples galore, a sub bass that will peel your impure skin off, and that´s even before the reece hits you and the tunes flips itself on its head and hits you with melancholic pads and a piano before switching off the lights again. You can´t prepare for that ride!

So..Dark! lulls you into an uplifting angelic mood, think Lucky Spin/ Deejay from that era with warm pads and guru chants. Suddenly we´re switching into another program: A heavy drop hits you unexpected, pitched-up and -down ragga chants slap you in the face and before you can comprehend what happened here Matt Bass ramps up the unease with a superdark drop that´s dripping of darkness. It´s...so...dark!
